I've always been a lousy dancer, are most males?

At my age, it probably won't get better..
I recall, age 14, junior high, little Mary Lynn Hope, San Antonio, I was at her house to learn since we were going to our first dance. Me, tall, and stiff, probably moving like a rusty robot. I remember she said, "You're just too self conscious." Maybe that was it.
I was single when the "Twist" happened and any fool could do that or fake it. When the slow ones came on, I remember being told by some that I was a "great dancer." It was a bar a friend and I frequented, so maybe that loosened me up, or maybe they lied .
A woman I really wanted to impress was teaching me to Cha-Cha and I loved that music. You can imagine how that went. She was forgiving though.
Women, including Anne, have always seemed to be natural dancers, far more graceful than most men. I marvel at male dancers I see in musicals.
So I wondered, what about the guys on myLot? Good dancer? I know there are so many music lovers here, but can you move? Any jitterbuggers?
And the women too, is your husband or SO a dancing man or klutzy like I am?

I use to love going to the discos. They were so much fun and the music was great for dancing. I also liked all the cloths that went along with the era.

@JamesHxstatic He is really good, helped me to dance better because I was not very good. I married young and my parents did not let me go to parties a lot.

I can't waltz but that is about all. No dancing men in this household.

@celticeagle The guys who can't dance try to blend in to the wall paper.

I dance! I dance now, alone. I turn ion the music and I dance. When I go on vacation I always find a night club and go dance.
I think anyone can dance if they just let go of what others think about them.

@RubyHawk Even if I could dance well, I could never do that.

@JamesHxstatic Yes he is lol I have seen many men attempting to dance. After a few drinks they turn into John Travolta. How they think they look and how they actually look it two completely different things.

I have known my husband for 30 years, but I have never seen him dance. I went to many school dances, but could never win an award

Dancing seems to come naturally to some, others have work hard at it or stay away. I try to stay away.

I am sure being a musician makes for a good dancer?

@JamesHxstatic Certainly you'd be able to follow the beat and keep the correct rhythm. Maybe you could still have two left feet though!

I agree that many men are not great dancers- or have good rhythm. My husband is not bad but only basic- but at least I could always dance to the oldies with him--ha!

I think that to be good at anything you have to practice. My brother is a good dancer, but that is after he took dancing classes of course.

I love watching Dancing with the Stars. Some guys seem so relaxed and have rhythm as they glide around the dance floor. Others are stiff and have two left feet.

Even some of the football players that have been on were good dancers.
