Have you ever suffered from one? How did you overcome it? Once upon a time I was bulimic. I was lucky to get away relatively unscathed. Does the media place too much emphasis on physical appearance, particularly that of a womans weight?

The media does place too much attention on it, but people have to realize that just because they see something on TV or the movies doesn't mean that a person is inferior if they aren't that thin or beautiful. People need to take what they see on TV or in magazines with a big grain of salt.

No I have never had an eating disorder. I do think the media puts too much emphasis on being thin.

Anorexic - Anorexic girl, not me!!
I am a recovering Anorexic. It has been 10 years since I started eating well again. I spent some time in a hospital because of it but mostly I had to start eating because I got pregnant. Yes I believe that the media, and society are greatly to blame, but eating disorders can be caused by many many emotional problems that we cant control. In my case it wasnt like that. It was every one telling me I was big. I am big. Big boned. But It became burned into my brain that I needed to be skinny. Congrats to you for taking control of your life and becoming healthy again. Keep it up.
