My question is to the users of mylot whose mother tongue is not English. Do you feel mylot has helped you improve your writing skills in the English language? English is not my mother tongue either.I learned English in school. And I admit that mylot has helped me express myself more clearly in this language. What about you?

English is my second language, too. I can't say that it has improved by reading and writing on this site. I may have learned some words but that's it more or less. What I find more striking is the shocking grammar and spelling blunders some native speakers of English display here.

@MALUSE You are absolutely right. There are many among us here who commit shocking grammatical and spelling mistakes.I make many grammatical mistakes, too. To avoid such errors I try to make sentences as simple as possible. Mylot is the place where I gained confidence to express myself in English. By the way, what is your mother tongue?Mine is Hindi.

I am getting confused among European English, American English and Australian English here as all of them have different slang that become tough to understand for me! Thanks!

@AKRao24 LOL!! That's my problem, too. But I don't bother. We are taught British English in school and I use it here on mylot.Mylot has accepted British English. So,no problem.I don't think there is much difference between the two types of the language. Each language has various types.Even my mother tongue HindI is not an exception.

@marguicha English is my second language, too. But you perhaps use English more than me.I learned the language in school, but didn't have confidence to use it in expressing myself.Mylot has not only improved my English, but also gave me confidence to express myself in this language.
