Hubby went out to do errands. I have planters that need to be filled. He, of course, told me he wanted to get some marigolds. Those are his all time favorites. I asked him to get something else as well. Here is the selection I ended up with: A nine pack of marigolds--the short multicolored French marigolds that are yellow with rust and red also. A bright pink Gerbera Daisy. It will bloom all summer and the flowers are lovely. A pure white impatiens. This is a shade loving house plant or shade garden bloomer. I hope you enjoyed the show.

Thank you. Sometimes I think cotton ones would be great on a hot body as well.

@GardenGerty You're right. Loose cotton on a hot day is bliss.

Hubby picked this out, but I really do like it. I think I shall put it in a bright blue pot.

The marigolds will keep the mosquitos down, so plants them close to where you'll sit outside in the evenings.

I know they repel soil nematodes. I have not tried them for mosquito control, but these nine plants went into three black metal plant stands where we sit.

I have some giant orange/reddish blooms of marigold in the back right now. I have a gerbera but after giving me an orange flower, I haven't seen another one. I like yours better (I should go get different colors). I have some impatiens in the garden, they are of a different variety, pink/purple and the plants are taller. (My sunflowers are blooming, but perhaps the flowers won't open until another month!)

It sounds like you have a lovely flower garden. I have never grown gerbera before. Is yours getting enough sun? I actually think they do better in the middle of summer, about like your sunflowers.

@GardenGerty I just got another gerbera planted today, same shade as yours in the photo (fancy that). I hope it lives. (I love gerbera, as long as it is of a pinkish shade). I also planted some Black-Eyed Susan Denver daisy. The color is pale yellow (a bit unusual).

Did you buy the plants with the blooms or did they bloom with the sweat of your brow? (lol)

No, they came with blooms. I have since put them in planters and pots. That is all the sweat I shall do other than trim the spent flowers off.

Marigolds should help to keep the mosquitoes down. I have planted many near the house, but I think the mosquitoes cannot recognize the flowers.

This is the first year I have been told they repel mosquitoes. I like lemon balm and lemon grass to repel mosquitoes.

@GardenGerty Lemon grass does not work for me, I even planted lemon grass and the mosquitoes were not less than previous years. Only installing bat houses worked, those animals eat a great number of mosquitoes.

I bet there are flowers that will grow well for you. The white ones need shade, but the pink ones take the heat.

I put an extra insole in the shoes. I did want attention, and to be a little funny.
