Cooking Regrets

Do you ever cook something, and it sounds like it will be tasty, and you have made it before, but you later regret it? I did that tonight when I made egg muffins. I chopped up onions, spinach, and a red bell pepper. I poured the egg mixture over the tins with veggies at the bottom, and put them in the oven. After two bites I was over it, and the smell of the onions began to get to me. I still cannot eradicate the smell, and am concentrating on controlling my nausea. Not a lot of food sounds good to me these days. I have a feeling anything with onions will be out for awhile.

It happens to those pregnant women who are very sensitive to onions or garlic.

even if I love onions and garlic I don't eat them a lot because I know that I will smell afterwards. hmmmm... no offense, not meddling with your affairs. but are you not pregnant? hehe

As I was writing this post I paused and wondered if I sounded like I was pregnant. I don't take offense, and I'm not pregnant. It's literally impossible.

That does sound tasty. I wonder why onions don't suit you all of a sudden.

Whenever I cook with eggs I always have to add cheese. Adding cheese to anything makes all the difference.

That was in my original plan, but suddenly cheese didn't sound good to me.

@AmbiePam You must be coming down with something or it may be food poisoning. If you are not pregnant and you are not allergic to any of the ingredients you used....?

There are times when I cook something and my family loves it but I am not impressed with myself. Then there are times when I cook something and love it, and no one else does.

I ditched onions for a couple of years so I could share meat bits with the cats. Now I am adding them again and I'm surprised at how they make things somewhat sweet but acidic, and smell quite strong. I like them but don't want them in everything.

I hate to be wasteful, but I threw the rest of the onion out. It's probably for the best. I worry about dropping food. My apartment isn't big enough for a kitchen tab!e, so I eat on my couch. My dog leaves me alone unless I drop something, and she's fast. So if I ever dropped pieces of an onion, she'd probably get to them before I could. And like you implied, we can't share that with a fur baby.

Onions are one of my favorite veggies. You can wipe everything down with lemon juice. That should take the smell away.

Sometimes my food experiment turns out regretful, mostly it's innovative and my mistakes turn it into a new dish. I am skilled like that!

I made some omelette the other day and forgot to add onions . (My mother's recipe does need lots of chopped onions.)

If you do not feel well and the smell of onions gets to you, avoid to use onions for a while.
