Birthday at the beach

My husband's birthday was yesterday, but rain was in the forecast, so we went to the beach (Nag's Head on the Atlantic ocean) the day before.
It was sunny, hot and beautiful. A friend has a beach house right on the ocean and let us use it. We enjoyed sitting on the shore (with lots of sunscreen and a big hat!), then a delicious seafood dinner at a local restaurant.
That afternoon we relaxed on the screened in porch and later walked on the beach. My husband enjoyed his coffee the next morning on the gazebo at the end of the wooden walkway close to the water.
Did a little shopping and saw the Bodie Lighthouse...that was so pretty.
The next night we celebrated again with gifts and a chocolate pie with candles, instead of a cake!
May is such a nice month in which to have a birthday.
Mine's four days after Christmas. Usually cold and everyone is partied out. Oh well, I'm always thankful just to have another one!

That sounds like a great way to celebrate your husbands birthday. I am planning a luau party for the other half when his birthday comes around in July.

@1creekgirl I thought it would be a fun change of pace. Especially since we get a ton of luau stuff in at work. Ive been squirreling it away a little by little.

What a great way to enjoy a birthday. I have been to Nags Head myself and it is such a scenic area with the sand dunes and white beaches. When I went (many years ago) we tried to visit all the lighthouses Bodie among them. And you toped it off with a seafood diner, very nice.

@1creekgirl Yes it great! My Mom's side of the family is from NC. We were visiting her brother, wife and my cousin at the time.

The only good thing about my birthday being two days before New Year's Eve is that for the last couple of years, our kids and most of our grandkids meet in Myrtle Beach, SC to celebrate together.

Our hot and sunny weather is on its way and can't wait to spend some time at the beach. Here, May is a little chilly or at least can be!!

Thanks, Andria. I know July is almost always hot in the south. Hope it will be a good birthday anyway!
