our new minivan!

A week ago, our van blew its head gasket and died on the side of the highway. With a household of 10, this was a pretty tragic loss. Getting kids back and forth to school this week with just a 4 passenger vehicle with stick shift (and not everyone can drive stick) has been very challenging.
Last night we looked at this 2000 Honda Odyssey. It has only 127K miles, just got smog tested, and runs really well. Air conditioning, power steering, power door locks, and power mirrors, plus -- automatic transmission! 
For $3200, it feels worth the price. I miss our old van, but this will be a good replacement, at least until next year.

It has two captain's chairs in the middle, which works really well for the kids' carseats.

It was awful. The oldest boy's school is the closest and he has a helmet and skateboard, so he rode his skateboard to and from school this week. We arranged rides for the youngest girl. I walked to the grocery store with a backpack and stroller. I'm very glad to have a van again.
