My daughter had to buy a second wedding gown. About two months ago she was diagnosed with gastritis so she isn't able to eat a lot of different foods. Since she cut them out of her diet she has lost quite a bit of weight. When she took her first gown in to get fitted the seamstess told her it would need to be taken in 8" and she didn't recommend it because of the style of the gown. There was also a chance that the gown could get ruined so a few different seamstresses refused to even try. They recommended that she buy another gown. She paid a lot of money for her dream gown. Needless to say she was devastated.
So today she went and bought another gown right of the rack. They were having a huge sale so she got a great deal. It looks beautiful on her.The perfect fit but nothing at all like her first gown. It was four sizes smaller then her last gown. She still is going to see another seamstress about the other gown but if nothing can be done she will have to take the loss and sell it. She will never get near what she paid for it which is a shame.
She feels relieved though that she has another gown because she was really starting to panic with the wedding a little move then two months away.

Glad she found a new dress, but hopefully another seamstress has a second opinion. It’ll be a bummer not being able to wear the dress she loved and payed a hefty tag on!

Yes it would be sad if she doesnt get to wear it because all the colors for the wedding was surrounded around this dress. We will know more the end of the month.

Perhaps a talented seamstress could enhance the one that fits to be like the one that is too large. I hope that eliminating troublesome foods has solved her problems, because in the long run her health is the most important thing.

Yes Gastritis makes one to loose lot of weight but I really surprised the way she lost the weight! Now at least she got a nice gown to wear for the wedding...let us be happy with that...the old one can be sold at any given time! Please take care of her that she wouldn't loose further weight! god Bless her ! Thanks!

I started really gaining weight when I hit my late 50s and I did try to lose some but it never worked so I simply go with it, I think women are supposed to gain after menopause so they can survive old age better @Happy2BeMe

@rebelann I have to take the weight off because of my heart issues but it is a struggle. I did lose some but I still have weight to loss and it just won't go anywhere. It is very frustrating.

@id_peace not sure either. I know you can rent suits but I am not sure if gowns can be rented

She wont gain back the weight because her diet is very limited. She becomes really sick if she eats anything that doesn't agree with her.

The opposite happened with my daughter. She gained weight and originally the wedding was going to be in September but a situation arose and they decided to downsize the cost of the wedding so she decided to do the the wedding this month instead which didn't give her enough time to lose the we weight.
The sales girl was pretty ride to her not believing she fit in it when purchased. They were able to see on a corset on the back which other styles had and doing so allowed her to wear the dress we all liked after all. Her wedding was last night.
I will look for a good pic to upload here in a minute. It looks like I needed to upload it from my desktop. Maybe another day.

I am surprised to see that gastritis can make someone loose so much!! Hope she is able to keep a check on her weight now. Loosing too much might not be healthy

This is a Shame that they do Gowns like this. I would have thought they would offer a better solution. Did they even offer a discount on the second gown? Hope she can get a decent price for the original one when she goes and tries to sell it.

Good thing she found a new wedding gown. Hopefully, something can be done with the first one so she can still wear that as it was her first choice.

going down 4 dress sizes is a great achievement! does she have to mark down the first gown really low to be able to sell it?

Yes she would have to. She would never get what she paid for it. I don't think so anyway. Most people don't buy second hand gowns even though it was never worn.
