What's the "lowest" job you can think of?

I was taking a break from work yesterday, strolling toward my smoking spot, when I spied a meter maid inching up University Avenue, snarling traffic and looking for "offenders." Before "lovely Rita, meter maid" started playing in my head, the words, "You are the scum of the earth" were silently spoken. Meter maids all look the same, and all act the same. In fact, I think they may be clones. If you get to your car "just in time," they will still give you a ticket. If the "No Parking" sign is gone, or the meter is broken, they will still give you a ticket. They seem to take pleasure in doing so. Can you think of a job that is lower than meter maid? I have been a dishwasher, but I got into the "Zen" of it an actually enjoyed it. I have cleaned up vomit and wiped tushies, but those weren't my primary responsibilities in those jobs. Out of kindness (and the fear that she would whup my ass), I didn't include the meter maid in the photo I took of her smugly writing a ticket yesterday.

@TheHorse Yeah, they see the meter maid at their car, run and try to move it. She would get cussed out, and called all sorts of names, just doing her job.

in my opinion there is nothing like lower or upper job! Every job does have importance at its own place! Especially the so called as lower jobs are very esteemed jobs for me as everybody can not perform those jobs! I always face problem on the farm when I don't get the grass root level workers to keep my farm clean as it is very difficult to replace the workers ! So in my opinion every job is an important one and we should maintain the dignity of labor and respect their duties! Thanks!

Meter maids are trained to have no feelings and behave like emotionless robots. Okay, now to answer your question: Well, if you mean "lowest" like not much thought needed and all you have to do is basically be there and keep doing the same thing over and over for 8 hrs. a day, I guess it would be putting caps on bottles in an assembly line or something like that. But hey, I'm not knocking it....I would actually prefer a simple job like that over something high-stress/high-profile, who cares. As for "lowest" like the lowest of the low, like what-kind-of-terrible-person-would-do-a-job-like-that....I'd say any kind of job that harms animals. Anybody who could do a job like that, I would want NOTHING to do with them.

For me it is the yard patrol and the building inspector in this town. We have had rain every weekend so far so haven't been able to mow, now I'm worried about getting a fine soon if this weather will not co-operate! The building inspector here is something too, we asked about building a garage, well to do so, we would have to have them come inspect every step we do. He said it could take months. So we decided not to!

That's a cruel job. Only people who love handing out tickets would enjoy such a job. I'm guessing here, but I think cleaning up after a bar closes would rank up there in worst jobs. I've heard tales of people who've cleaned up after close.

It's the government putting pressure on meter maids to get that high ticket volume so the villain in the piece is the usual culprit behind a job attracting a certain power trip mentality.

Yeppers. I got a bogus ticket recently (probably what led me to take the picture), and fought with pictures (of a sign that had been removed, etc.). The "powers that be" made fighting a $50 ticket so difficult that I ultimately gave up.

Hmm. I started working when I was 14. I've done some interesting jobs. I just like to be paid. I don't care what it is that pays me. I would shovel crap, or be a meter maid. But I think being a meter maid might be better than shoveling crap. By the way, I have never actually shoveled crap for a living.

@TheHorse You are right. Actually I do not see anything wrong with being a janitor since they really help but what I dont like about it is how they are mistreated by their bosses and make them the worst people ever. If I am being treated like sh*t, then I guess that is the worst job ever. My apologies I was unable to explain further as I was still being sleepy.

lol I actually feel a bit sorry for them. Imagine getting that job. Like if it were the only job available. I would hate to work a job like that where everyone hates you. On the other hand there are some people who take their jobs a little too far and quite deserve the hate they get. At the moment I can't think of any job lower.

I couldnt do that job. Our meter maids experience a lot of abuse; people generally hate them. On the whole, except in cases where the meter is broken, people should be responsible in following parking rules!
