I thank that I have a naughty puppy.

I just read a post from one of my friends here and he tells there that he has a puppy that shakes all over. And he shakes less when he puts him back into his cage. I do not quite understand what he meant and will have to wait until he answers me. But I cannot imagine Luna in a cage. Today we had to put her behind bars while Marco was placing the plastic over the terrace. We put Luna in the patio where I place the clothes to dry. It is a space bigger than a room, full of things to play with and there was a wire mesh through which she could look at the terrace to see what was going on. She was scolding Marco all the time she was there. Then, when the work was done, we left a plastic door that she could move to get in and out. She quickly learned where was the way in and out. Ever since she arrived, She has been living in a small made up house. She can enter or go out whenever she wants. I don´t think that she would understand the word "cage" although she knows perfectly well other things. She loves her freedom although sometimes she steps into my toes. But I´m glad she is a happy puppy even when she is being naughty. How do you keep your dogs?

I had rabbits, decades ago. They are lovely, but they are wild. Still, they are SO beautiful!

When I had Monique, we let her roam inside the house and and she was such a joy. We just forgot to keep those plastics in place.

I cover the terrace every fall so as to make a sort of greenhouse at the terrace. I it the size of the living and dining room and in winter it is the warmest place in the house. As Luna sleeps in the terrace, she will have to get acquainted to a covered terrace. I cannot have Luna inside as my house is not too big and Luna is very active.

@mlgen1037 She has a lot while she is awake. We built the greenhouse with a sort of plastic door so that she can get out. She already learned how to do it.

Wait until she gets a 100 pounds, and then its not so fun when she steps on the toes. What Kai does and funny Tristan my old German Shepherd stepped on my toes like 3 times in 13 years but Kai does that in a week. She is gonna be gorgeous. How old is she? I already like she stands up for herself. You tell Marco.

Luna is around 4 months old now. I don´t know the exact date of her birth. I do think that she must learn a lot of things before she is too big in size. But as she is very intelligent, she is learning fast.

@crossbones27 Luna learned the first day here that she was not to come into the house. She was not pot trained at all then and "did" number 2 fortunately in my bathroom. I almost fainted. She decided alone where her bathrooms were. And now she sits waiting for me to fill her dish with food.

@marguicha Indeed, one thing I love about the breed is learn very quick and so respectful. I am like do you teach that in humans or can you?

It sounds like your friends dog has fear issues @marguicha and that he only feels safe inside of the cage. But that's not a good thing either. Dogs were not meant to be in a cage for hours at a time particularly depending on the size of the cage. 2 of the 3 dogs that I had were on 40-foot, tie-outs. The 3rd dog, I had to build a 20-foot by 40-foot fenced in area as she was a Pit Bull and didn't like most people.

It is difficult to think what is best for a dog. But cage sounds like a prison to me.

I would rather not have a dog than to have one in a cage. And I would not have a wild pet that you have to keep in a cage.

We don't have a dog, but my brother has 2 of them. One is a German Shepard. He would put him in his pen during the day and he would howl and whimper all day. Poor thing. However, if he left him out of the pen he would destroy their furniture. Now he is better, but very active. He jumps on people. I don't care for that behavior. I fear he will knock Little Miss down and cause her harm. Not intentional harm, but still, I don't want her to fear dogs or be hurt.

That is what a caged dog can do, I imagine. Why buy a dog that size, if you cannot have it free?

Chihuahuas are so small that I´m sure that they will not do harm in a house. But a German Shepherd is too big.

Preiti is a free bird. She is never leashed nor put in a cage and that would be cruelty to animals.

I will have to teach her to walk with me with a leash. It is against the law to set a dog free in the streets here.

I don't have any dogs. No cats now, either. But if I had pets, I think they would be happier being outside sometimes. Even I don't like to be confined indoors all the time.

I would not get a dog to put it in a cage. If I want to have something static, I´d buy a toy or a picture.

My dogs all live in the house with me.. We currently have 6. I have 5 of them sleeping in the living room with me every day. they go out and play in the yard many times a day.. and sometimes I let them on the front porch although we have a baby grate across the front stairs so they can not get off the porch..

Luna was not happy yesterday when she was "caged" in a patio bigger than my room for some time while the terrace cover was being placed. And she could watch the proceedings, she was not alone.
