In my quest to write about the best songs through the years up to the present day I can say that I am in shock. I am up to 1998 and suddenly I am lost. I do not know any of these songs and so after listening to them, I chose the one I thought was better than the others. I hope some of our music experts can comment something about these songs. The biggest song of 1998 was “Too Close” by Next, an American contemporary R&B musical trio. The song spent five weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. The Song of the Year was “Sunny Came Home” by Shawn Colvin and it also won Record of the Year. Colvin is an American singer and songwriter. Finally, the best song of this year was “Doo Wop (That Thing)” by Lauryn Hill. This was the first single from her debut album. Hill is multi-talented as an American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actress. She was once a member of Fugees. Anyway, I will persevere and get through the rest of the years. It is also a kind of music education for me too and I discover what I have missed while listening to my beloved songs. Now it’s your turn to let me know what you think of these singers and songs. Is there anyone who is just like me and doesn’t know any of them?

I know none of those songs. By that time I was totally out of mainstream popular music.

I think somewhere along the way I just stopped listening to music unless a nice song was brought to my attention as I don't know any of the artists or songs you mentioned. I will now go and listen to the one that is featured.

Surprisingly the song is familiar to me. I guess I must have heard it somewhere.
