Putting on My LO's diaper

May 20, 2018 3:19am CST
I've always found putting diaper on my little one difficult for me.He's already 1 year old and he doesn't really want me to put diapers on him. He struggles every time I cleaned up his butt. He cries as he tries to escape from me. But when I successfully put diaper on him, he stopped from crying. He then plays and gets himself busy...Have you experienced this too to your Lo? How did you do it without any difficulties to your little ones?

That is totally normal. Babies don’t like to be still. They have an attention span of of that of 60 seconds. Try being a toy in while changing or a book. My 3 year old will lay still through the whole thing of course but he is also my third child so I’ve been through the whole thing a billion times by now. Can’t wait till his tummy is 100% gluten free it makes potty training him easier. He has a wheat allergy if makes it hard to get him to use the potty for poopy. We will get there one day.

@TeacherHub37 they make okay phones they look Just like real ones they are jotto expensive. That’s what I have for my little guy. We have 2 and recharge them once they get low and it lights up and stuff. He plays pretend with like a real iPhone. Some times we sing we play hands up and wave them and stuff. After a first baby changing diapers on a wiggle worm becomes easy. I’ve done it so much it’s normal .

Thank you C for your response. My 1 year old baby likes to play with a phone..We don't actually let him play with it for a long time..he can touch it but once he tries to eat it or taste it, I take it away from him. We've tried giving the phone to him during his diaper time, and he's calm and still. But I don't think it's a good idea for us to let him play with a phone while changing his diaper. I worry about the effects of this...

@ShyBear88 Thank you for your response. We've tried to hand something over to him while changing his diapers. It worked so far. Sometimes, we need to really teach him to raise his legs while he's standing to pull the diapers up, and it worked as well. But not all the times, these techniques work...depends on his mood :D

@TeacherHub37 I guess it's a phase but I can't know for sure. I know with my kid, I switched from the regular diaper to the pullup and that helped a bit because he thought he was all grown up. But each child is different and a beautiful individual in his or her own right.

Ahh, yes those active one year olds can be quite a challenge. He's quit mobile from how you describe him, so make it into a game and get him involved with a toy, something that will capture and hold his attention while you get his diaper changed. It has to be something he is interested in, or you will continue to have the same problem.. The key is to get him thinking about something else while you change his diaper.
