Yesterday, I spent quite a bit of time outside weeding out the grass from my new gardens with my kids. One thing, well at least 10 of them, that are popping up where I planted corn is well this plant.
I'm pretty sure its corn! I've looked it up online and it looks rather similar to those pictures... so here is to hoping!
What do you think? is it? How are your gardens coming?

Corn is a monocotyledon, like all grasses and it comes up with just one seed leaf (rather broader than ordinary grass) and then grows more leaves from the middle of the plant. The stem comes rather later.
The plant in the picture appears to have two seed leaves (the two small leaves lowest down) and the others are branching from the stem. It's a dicotyledon, whatever it is, and is clearly not corn!

Corn grows tall. Are you ready can you handle a 6 foot monster that spits out food?

@Daelii Nothing more free than growing your own food. Vikings you ever seen it. He just wanted to be a farmer. His kids were the evil ones, well just one that corrupted the others but is neat to see because was so true.

@crossbones27 Exactly! with as much as my kids love eating veggies with me. It just seems like we can do that way more and healthier than relying just on the super market. Like seriously, why consider paying 5$ for an itty bitty amount of strawberries we can try to grow our own?!

It doesn't look like corn. The leaves of corn should be more pointed and longer.

nooo!!!! hahah
I keep thinking of when I planted a bunch of wild flower seeds. What did grow, I lovingly tended. watered every day and when it grew in the walkways... i transplanted to the garden beds I made leading to my moms front door.
they did get some pretty purple flowers briefly, but it turned out to be briar bushes that had to come down asap! they hurt walking by !
I'm so afraid to be tending to weeds in my gardening adventure. lol
