I talk to the birds

Back in 1969, Clint Eastwood (sort of) sang "I Talk To The Trees" in the musical movie "Paint Your Wagon." Lee Marvin even sang in that one! Well, I don't talk to the trees, but I do greet the birds that frequent my seed feeder. From the kitchen window, I see colorful Mr. Towhee pop in for some seed that fell on the ground where he prefers to eat and welcome him. Goldfinches sometimes fly in while I am filling the bird bath and I return their cheerful greeting. Starlings congregate in such numbers that I view them as marauders and attempt to shoo them away for the moment at least. The Northern Flicker, loudly announces his presence as doe the California Scrub Jay, so I feel compelled to say hello. Seeing these feathered creatures visit each day is a peaceful thing to happen in this contentious and chaotic world of ours. Their tweets, at least, make sense.

Our yard is full of birds, but the one I truly speak to is Orville, the osprey, when I'm in Florida. At least he talks back to me.

I like to talk to my cat, like you talk to a bird. I think they understand our language.

I enjoy watching the birds frequent my feeder but I do it from a distance so not to scare them away

@JamesHxstatic I think it is cool for people to talk not only to the birds but all creatures they come in contact with. My cat used to talk to the birds but they never answered back so she stopped. I do not blame her at all.

She was probably telling them how she'd like to eat them.

@JamesHxstatic I cannot tell you that. That is a possibility but I would like to say she was saying hi to them.

They make more sense than some twitters. I didn't know Clint Eastwood did some singing too.

Yes they do. Yes, and apparently he did more than this I read. He sang once on Jay Leno's show.

You are so kind to these feathered creatures and feed them with seed and water.I am amazed at your being able to identify varieties of birds.

I know some of the calls our birds make but I'd like to know more. Sometimes I'll hear them tweeting but be unable to see which bird is making the noise.
