I threw my coconut oil jar against the wall

It shattered into a million pieces. No, I didn't actually do that. My coconut jar has constantly been a pain in the butt to open. Tonight I had enough of that and once I did get it open, I moved the contents into another jar with a latch so that I could easily open it and close it. I am saving the jar for a candle though, as it's the perfect size and shape. I don't think I've ever had as much trouble with a jar as I have had with that one. I cleaned the lip of the jar and the lid before closing it last but that didn't help anything. The lid was metal so I heated the whole thing in water on the stove for a minute, just enough for it expand so that I could open it. I haven't yet used coconut oil in cooking, but I plan to do so. I've been using it as a moisturizer. I'll be buying more coconut oil, and also some more ingredients to make lotions, lip balms, and of course candles. What do you cook in coconut oil? What do you use coconut oil for?

I do not use coconut oil to cook. Just like @Poppylicious, I do not like the taste or the texture.

I do not like using coconut in food, and I don't like the water, but I've had a taste of just the oil and it isn't too bad. I think I will atleast give it a try.

@LadyDuck I am sure they add a lot of bad things in the stuf bought in stores. I bought a bottle one time a couple of years ago, and never again.

@ScribbledAdNauseum The water is good ONLY if you drink it from a freshly opened coconut. The water sold in stores tastes horrible.

I haven't yet, but I want to. Do you just use the coconut oil or do you add other things?

@sw8sincere I've heard marshmallow root is supposed to be good for hair. It helps keep it sleek, it's good to help detangle it. I may look into making my own hair detangler actually.

My coconut oil comes in a plastic jar. But it does sort of seal it with the oil. I found heating it up helps to loosen the lid.

That's what I had to do. I am trying to eliminate plastics as much as possible. I buy vitacost brand oil.

I don't like either the taste or texture of coconut, so I do nothing with it! I quite like the smell though, so I don't mind toiletries which have a coconut aroma. :)

It's really healthy for the skin. I don't like the coconut scented things on the market, but I think I would try to do something with it for a lotion.

Louanne's a pretty popular company. The coconut oil I use is Organic, cold pressed and unrefined.
