Do You Journal?

I used to journal sporadically growing up. Sadly, I never stuck with it and no longer have any of my old journalings. I also kept an online journal for a while during my last few years of high school. Several years ago, I started to pick it back up again. I am not sure how many of you are familiar with "Teacher In Space," Christa McAuliffe, who tragically died in the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger back in 1986. As a history teacher, she believed that each and every person made up a part of history and that it was important for that this history to be recorded. With this in mind, she encouraged her students to keep journals, and even created a class at the high school she taught at about pioneering women in American history, which she got a lot of her material for from journals. I thought this was a very interesting perspective and even though I don't think the day to day happenings of my life are all that interesting or important, I still find to be a helpful way to clear my head, organize my thoughts, discover and better understand myself, and plan for the future. I also put various things in my journal such as receipts or business cards from places I've been and want to remember, pictures, greeting cards, and other various scraps. It is a great way to give these items a place so they they aren't lying around taking up space. They also provide nice visuals for the journal. I have been at it consistently since the winter of 2016 and I hope to continue. Do you journal? If so, how long have you been doing it?

I used to when I was in highschool and kept it up throughout some of my college years but fell out of the habit. I have been trying to get back into it again for some time, but rather than keeping an online journal I have been keeping it on my phone using a writing app.

I did when I was younger. Now I do pretty much the same thing every day and nothing exciting to write about. I have a calendar in a planner book for this year and it has pages to write a little for each day so I just do that now. I just write a few lines about what I did each day, but it’s pretty boring, haha.

I know what you mean. My days tend to be more task-oriented than event oriented, so I find myself doing pretty much the same thing every day too. Your use of the planner book sounds like a good idea!

I don't journal, but have thought about it a few times, and tried to a couple times, but always lost interest in it. I have run into a relative's journal and found it fascinating, even on those days when all she did was feed the chickens. She also recorded what the weather was that day.
