I was doing my daily ritual of checking the daily headlines when I came across this one. Im all for stuff being found. And this was a big find. The San Jose went down 300 years ago during a battle with 600 people on board.
An autonomous vehicle was used in 2015 to locate a Spanish galleon that sunk 300 years ago off the coast of Colombia with $17 billion in treasure, the research team that helped in the discovery said on Monday.

Wow, that is really cool! I love reading about stuff like this! It's surprising that we're still finding shipwrecks that have laid undiscovered on the ocean floors for centuries. You would think that with all the technology and treasure hunters out there that we would have found everything by now. But then again, they still haven't found that Malaysia airliner that went missing several years ago over by Australia. I wonder how many decades will go by before some robot vehicle stumbles across that plane sitting on the ocean floor?

@thislittlepennyearns But even so, they're still discovering shipwrecks in shallow waters off of the coasts of the United States. Pretty crazy that they haven't found them all yet, especially with so much technology and so many treasure hunting companies out there looking!

Like I've said before it just helps drive home the point of how deep the oceans floor really is and how vast the oceans are.

The ocean is way bigger deeper and unexplored than people think it is.

@thislittlepennyearns I know! There is so much we don't know about it. Starting with some sunken cities that had to have been built 12,000 or more years ago when the land they were built on was dry. I really came close to joining the navy and perusing studies in oceanography. But then my mom became I'll and I stayed home to tend to her care.

Super cool. I read a very interesting book about the discovery of the SS Central America and how they brought up some of the treasure. Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea.

I love stories like this. I love reading about them finding shipwrecks. Or other things that people thought were lost.

What an exciting find. Can you imagine the thrill? Takes years of searching and research to find these wrecks.

Clearly it took some time. 300 years. Lol. But yeah it would be so exhilarating to be part of the team to find it and be among the people who had been the first to see it since it sunk. It also proves just how much of the ocean we have yet to discover or explore.

That's nice. I am just thinking how was their life during those days...where no media, no mobile, no car, no AC... They would haven't thought that their generation one day will reach this stage.
