So, it all began about a month ago, when I first got my new smartphone and was finally able to download apps. I tried the famous/infamous app called "There is no game". A mini game which isn't a game. I got stuck, so I looked for a walkthrough on YouTube and there I found Markiplier's channel. So basically this dude plays video games which he narrates as he plays. That sounds about as interesting as watching paint dry. But he is totally and addictively hilarious - and I don't even like video games. I think he's best known for the video game videos and there are some great ones like the one I'll include the link to for "There is no game" which is what started it all for me , and one called "Spaghet" that made me laugh. Markiplier also does other videos such as "A date with Markiplier" where you watch a series of short videos with links at the end , so you make an interactive story about your "date" with Markiplier -- there's "Who Killed Markiplier" - a "Clue" like story, there's "Fall in love with Markiplier" which is 30 minutes of Markiplier just staring into the camera - the fun starts when you turn on the captions and see that he's totally poking fun at himself in the captions, and there are videos he's made that totally have me laughing until my sides hurt, such as the one where he chats with an AI chat bot. The other interesting thing is he has a nice voice and could easily do voiceover work but it would appear that his youtube account and following is large. Just think, this man is making a life for himself out of playing video games. Even if it doesn't sound interesting to you take a look, but be warned sometimes he uses foul language
There is no game! Nothing to see here! Move along! Don't Play It ? http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/659792 Actual Games HERE ? https://www.youtube.com/p...

I remember seeing a video once which highlighted some of the top earners on YouTube and was surprised to learn that many of them are simply gamers. They were making in some cases hundreds of thousands of dollars a year doing this. It boggles the mind.

I know. It seems amazing to me, too. I thought about it, but I think in order to make it big - you have to have that perfect storm of interesting things to say, high quality camera and lighting, video editing, a popular topic .... ah so much effort. But then, they do seem to rake in big $, too... Some of the beauty bloggers are pretty big too... but I simply can't be that entertaining while putting a look on.

@FayeHazel It's like anything. If you are going to make a living at it, you have to be good at it. There are only so many people equipped to be movie stars, rock stars, sports stars, and yep...YouTube stars.

Some YouTubers are really good. Some earn quite a few million dollars per month for their clips.
