What's in Your Kitchen?

I have been trying to eat a lot healthier lately. I've cut fried foods out of the equation, I've added fruit and veg into the equation, and I only drink water and herbal tea. I don't put any sweetener in the tea. For breakfast I eat a few raspberries, strawberries, a couple of pieces of broccoli, cauliflower, and on occasion some walnuts. I intend to get peaches, plums, plumquots because I like those. Oh, I eat a kiwi every other night (higher in vitamin C than an orange is), and I eat yogurt. Yogurt is more of a tricky thing because not all yogurt is alike, and not all yogurt is actually healthy for you. I haven't done research quite yet on what will work for me, or what I want to fit into my diet as far as yogurt goes. However, I have been eating Oui Yogurt from Yoplait and feel fairly confident that it is one of the better options. I love the real fruit on the bottom. I avoid bread as much as possible, but I did have whole grain bread on a sandwich I got from Arby's the other day. I think if I do eat bread, I'll get sprouted grain bread from now on. I have watched a video on making sweet potato flat bread, so I may attempt that. The recipe calls for regular flour, but I will probably substitute it for a different kind of flour as well. These foods aren't chosen lightly. I choose foods that will help me personally, and avoid those that will hinder my goal. What's In Your Kitchen?

@Courtlynn I am aware, but I also asked "What's in your kitchen?" so I could only assume that water was the only thing.

So the only thing you have in your kitchen is water?

@ScribbledAdNauseum Obviously not. It means out of all you mentioned, I only have the water.

Most yogurts are in fact not at all yogurts and full of sugar. Real plain Greek yogurt is healthy. I have yogurt and fruits in the morning. I also love plumquots. We eat fruits and yogurt for breakfast, usually a salad for lunch, sometimes tomatoes and mozzarella or a Greek salad with feta cheese. For dinner is most of the time fish, sometimes oven roasted chicken, this is something I like.

I love fresh mozzarella, it is so delicious. Greek food is one of my favorites. I worked in a Greek Restaurant several years ago. The "Oui" Yogurt by Yoplait has Cane Sugar. As far as sugar's go, I think it's one of the better options. Not so much healthier, but better atleast. A lot of yogurts have high fructose corn syrup in them, and that is definitely something I keep away from. I've had Kefir before, and I think it's one of the better yogurt products, but it also takes me awhile to consume so I don't buy them very often. We don't do fish very often here. I like Shrimp, Tuna and Salmon, but not real big on any of the others. My family is even pickier, and so this is partially why we don't do fish very often.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I also love Kefir and I love Greek food. We like several different kind of fish, salmon, tuna, soles, perch, also catfish is not too bad. I cross the border to buy fresh mozzarella in Italy, they have very good mozzarella there.

Greek yogurt is better for you than other yogurt, the like you mentioned. Have you ever tried Siggi Greek yogurt? It's got less sugar than a lot of other Greek yogurts, and more protein. Their drinkable yogurt is so incredibly good. You get get a coupon for a dollar off on their website. I first discovered them on a site that tells you the healthiest kind of every type of food, which in this case, was Greek yogurt.

Do you know the name of the site that tells you the healthiest kind of everything? I've seen Siggi, but I haven't picked one up yet. One reason why I picked Oui was because it's in a glass container. I will pick one or two up the next time I am at the grocery store.

I wish we could afford to buy a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit. Yum! We eat cottage cheese, avocados, tomatoes, grapes, sandwiches and strawberry short cake.

@celticeagle My aunt grows things like tomatoes, cucumbers, she had a few apple trees at one time. I love getting the tomatoes from her. They are so delicious just as a snack.

I love cottage cheese on salads. I haven't had that in so long. Do you like the grape / cherry tomatoes? Those are my favorite.

There's an oven in my kitchen, and I'll use it to make cake, make meat and pizza. I know these are unhealthy, but my daughter likes them very much. She just doesn't like healthy food. lol

Lean meats aren't bad. Kids don't like healthy food and that's okay.

If I don't take the initiative and get healthy foods, we don't eat healthy. One family member could survive on fast food all of the time. The other's idea of "healthy" is anything that says "No sugar" or "low sugar" on it.

My kitchen is out of supplies right now. What I have in the sink are dishes to be washed.

Oh, I do hate dishes. I seem to be the only one that rinses the dishes off and puts them in the dishwasher. Or outright wash the dishes that need to be washed by hand.
