…mango tree. Good Thursday morning from this side of the planet, my friends, how was your day yesterday? As what I posted a discussion yesterday, we had the power outage not from 7am to 6pm, but 7am to 8pm. It was so annoying to be informed when my sister called up the electric cooperative that the brownout will be extended for 2 more hours. A 13 hour-long power interruption may have caused some to be angry; but my positive attitude prevailed--- we were able to live without light for 2 months, a 13-hour long brownout is just okay. Only the hot temperature was our problem yesterday but good thing, it was cloudy and we had some rather cool winds blowing. Since it was hot inside, I opted to bring out my small white chair, my hand fan, 2 mobile phones, and a bottle of cold water. As usual too, 2 white dogs followed me and slept near me. The mango tree was a good place to enjoy the wind. I even had a nap. Do you like having a nap under a tree?

That sounds lovely napping under the tree. Here in the US.. there would be major issues with people having their power constantly shut off. So many people are on oxygen and need the A/C for medical reasons.. there would be a lot of deaths I think if they did that and much to answer for... not to mention how much of food will be spoiled when the refrigerators and freezers are shout off for that length of time..

yes that is one of the concerns here when electric power is temporarily cut off. the respirator, the ventilator, even the cardiac monitor really needs electricity. lives may be at stake. for us, the fan is good to keep us cool; for me though, since i have a heart ailment, i should keep myself cool, in thought, in word, and in deed. hahaha

Good morning po. Yes, I would love to take a nap under a tree if given the chance. Sadly, we have no more tree here. I was waiting for you last night because I thought the brownout will be until 6 pm only. But yes, patience is a virtue. Hehe

When I was very young, my family had a big walnut tree, and I used to enjoy the cool under it in summer.

that's true... it's really nice and comfortable sleeping under a mango tree. we also did that when we were in our hometown last month.

it is cool to do that, not unless there are fruits, because there might be these very worms that cause itches when they touch your skin (we call this budu-budu).

@magallon yes, there are red ants that make their 'homes' by stitching leaves and keeping their mother ant safe. the worm 'budu-budu' is not a red ant. but you will feel icky just looking at it.

@Hannihar worse too, if the batteries of your flashlight (the standard flashlight i mean and not the phone's torch) are draining fast, you will be blind of the darkness already

@ridingbet It is very difficult. I remember one time all of the lights went out in the apartment and it was pitch dark and had to feel in the dark for a flash light.

I do! A mango tree, even better. Especially if I could get some fresh fruit. It's that time of year for mangoes, isn't it?

It's too bad though we never put a swing on the tree nor folding bed. Now, we have removed it I felt regret never sleeping under the tree.

when the tree of 'alugbati' was still standing, my mother would put the native swing where we sleep under the tree. we still have that big native swing but it is only the mango tree that stands in our lawn.

Sitting under a tree when it all hot is a good way to cool off the body in fresh air

I used to have it as a child. We used to visit our native grandparents house during summer holidays. There use to be power cuts and we enjoyed sleeping under trees during afternoon as well as in star litted night.it was something we looked forward to

i presume those times when you slept under the tree, it was not very hot there, am i right? because these times where technology is constantly developing, the days and nights of sleeping outside is already a wonderful experience to have. it could be a dream-come-true to stay outside to sleep under the tree.
