*soDRY!_

our sky yesterday

Yesterday, while I was seated under the mango tree, I saw our skies with the white clouds and thought positively that it will rain. The clouds started to form like big white cotton candies, as the sun’s rays were partially covered by them. I took a picture of the skies and posted it on Facebook, but examining the image, I also saw how dry the soil in our lawn is; even the leaves of the fortune plant that is normally green, is now turning yellow. It is becoming gloomy again; I hope it will rain. Watering our plants from the tap will add in our water bills so the hope for rains is but natural for us. If you are experiencing summer so hot and dry, are the soil and leaves of your plants similar and as dry as what I posted in the image attached here?

oh, the 46 degrees Celsius is too much for me to handle. in Kuwait though, i experienced the temperature of 50C but when i go inside a building, it gets cold due to the centralized AC

I live on the six floor, I only have potted flowers inside my room. So I can't rely on the rain. Hope you can get some rain soon.

yes, the yellow leaves are caused by the extreme heat from the sun's rays

Sorry to hear this.. so far.. we are pretty wet. we just finally got to mow our lawn the other day it was getting very tall.. And funnier still was the reaction of the puppies when they came out and their back yard jungle was now a perfectly manicured lawn.. they were quite confused but by today. they were running all over the yard and enjoying it!

good for you because you have the grass to mow. our dogs are either at the side of the house, or inside, or worse, under the car. hahaha! that is why Macy is always dirty and not white anymore.

I never heard of this plant as the fortune plant. I have sold them and ordered them for years and we always called it, a dracaena massengena or a corn plant. It is funny how different countries have different names for things. It certainly is burning up. The ones here in Florida are the same way.

that plant is called fortune plant here. it has flowers that bloom every January of the year and they are white-petaled. they have a distinct scent.

I wish I could send you some water. We have rain almost everyday which is good in one way as I don't have to water all my plants everyday.

Right now everything is green, but usually in July we have the dry conditions and everything gets brown before it rains again.

@ridingbet Summer is still a few weeks away. June 21 to September 21. July and August are our hottest months. July is also the driest days of summer.

@Hannihar it waters the grass so photosynthesis happens and chlorophyll adds more green to the leaves.

yes that is so true. the flowers even droop, but when they are watered or receive the rain, they suddenly stand or the stem straightens out.
