Sometimes You Can Go Back!

Tonight we took my 4 year old granddaughter to a pub/restaurant that used to cater to kids of all ages with game machines and colouring contests etc. On the odd Friday night we used to take our kids there and they played the game machines and ate the simple food and we could enjoy a night out with them. I had assumed it was probably run down and a dive by now because the outside of it looks pretty tired. I was sure it had to be really old and run down since we brought our young kids there! But someone told us it was exactly the same so we thought to take our granddaughter for a night out. Well it was like stepping back in time because although they had not renovated extensibly it looked exactly the same. Very simple- pretty ordinary food but geared to kids still! Our granddaughter had fun and so did we. Although I still wouldn't go there if you had a serious event to celebrate. For a night I had stepped back to the old days! Wow! You know it's good to see the odd thing not change. And it was a bit of a nostalgic trip for sure! I almost felt 20 years younger- but not quite--lol!

That was great that the place had not changed and your granddaughter had a good time.

Nice to know that! I am happy that you had a nostalgic feeling there and felt 20 younger while at that restaurant and further happy to know that your grand daughter enjoyed there! Yes, there are some places in my home city too which haven't changed much and I like to visit whenever possible to go back to my past memories! Thanks!

I wish some of the places we used to take our kids were still around, these days there aren't many places except ones that are overrun with noisy ill-behaved children where one can take a child for a fun dinner and games.

@MarymargII I enjoy a good dive every now and then, as long as the food is edible. lol

I was shocked how little it had changed. Actually i thought it would be very run down and going out of business. Let's not say it's the place to go but it's holding it's own.

You were lucky, very few places have not changed in years. I like to go back in time visiting old places where we used to go.

That's good that you weren't disappointed. Whenever I revisit a place it all seems unrecognisable.

@MarymargII there are few places like that. We have a little family run restaurant here like that. Every time you walk into the place it is a step back in time.
