When my first three kids were young. I used to tell them that you get what you get. and you don't threw a fit. The three of them when they grew up would say that to their children. Now I noticed that my four great grand sons say that all the time to each other. So you knew that their children will be saying it to. Look what I started. I guess at least it is a good thing to say and not nothing bad. The picture is mine taken by me.

@jstory07 I agree, it is important that they learn something new from their parent every day.

As parents, we always pass on our wisdom to our children. It's passed on from generation to generation.

This is truly amazing knowing your children followed and pass your words of wisdom to their own kids as well.

That is why I like to grow in wisdom and experience because you can teach it to the future generation. Children learn thru example. You did well, Judy.

It was nice that good phrases had passed on to generations. My parents had inculcated good phrases and we continued to use and share to others.

More need to say that and stick to it. Many today are spoiled and have to get everything they want.

One of mine (usually uttered in response to an "I want" demand from one of my kids) was "want doesn't get." I think it has been used on my grandkids a few time, too.
