Even though there are beautiful or handsome men out there, women have always been considered the most beautiful and colorful of the sexes - but it is a bit different in the animal kingdom. Take a look at the lion for example - he is beautiful and magnificent, while the lioness is plain. Another example is the Peafowl. The peacock has the magnificent tail while the peahen has nothing in comparison. Can you think of any other plain female / beautiful male species of the animal kingdom? And while on the subject of beauty - would you feel comfortable if your other half is much more attractive than you are?

I believe the male peacock is much prettier than the female.

I am always amazed by the beautiful red coloring of the male cardinal. The female may or may not have a tiny touch of red but typically they are a brown/tan color. It wouldn't bother me if my husband was more attractive than me as long as he is with me.

We have a pair of ducks that visit our yard from time to time and the male is brightly colored while the female is a plain grey.

@Hannihar That's what I said - "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder" which means that everyone can have his or her own idea of what is beautiful and what is not so beautiful.

I think of the cardinals. The male is a bright red and the female is a dull reddish brown. I think the males have to stand out and strut their stuff to attract a female. In humans it's the opposite.

You are quite right - that is the only way the males can attract the females - no flashy cars, money, position at their disposal - as is the case with some human males.

Yeah. I'm fine with that. My wife is hot and I'm not. So much better than dealing with someone who is "beautiful on the inside." lol Don't fall for that trap.

So you prefer outward beauty? what happens when that fades? Outward beauty doesn't last a very long time.

@Kandae11 Eh, that's a myth. Outward beauty doesn't fade. People may gain some wrinkles, age spots, whatever. But you can still see the beauty. A lot of females use that line, because they have this idea in their heads that they are not one of the lucky beautiful ones. So they say things like that to make themselves feel better. When really they are beautiful. The percentage of what people would call ugly is less than 1%.

Male peacocks uses their beautiful tail to seduce and attract the females .Guess same rule with handsome men to get women to fall for them and if I have a better looking spouse because he pursued me and I would be proud of that

In most of the animal kingdom , it is the same. Females are plain and they are there to choose the best partners to mate with and males have to best in their looks and skills to impress the female and to get chosen

@Kandae11 There are some species of bulls where males race and fight for one female. The one who is the winner is chosen by the female for mating

So much truth to this and I always have wondered why that is, because we are essentially animals. But yes, women are just the most absolutely beautiful thing there is that I can think of.

From what I have read , it seems the males are like that to attract the females. With humans, if the man is unattractive he can make up for it with money , power or position.

A male and female deer. I am not sure if that is right but male deer or the buck has antlers, while the female deer or doe, has none. Well, I wouldnt mind if my husband is more attractive than me, as long as he is just mine.
