Slow News Day

So everyone by now has probably heard the latest news about the 30 year old "millennial" that got kicked out of his parents house. I've heard the parents side that he was a self entitled loser, who refused to leave. And I've heard the guy's side that he wanted to leave, but wasn't financially able to. And then I've also heard this was his way of protesting, because his parents wouldn't help him fight for custody of his kid. I don't know which side is right in this little family drama, but I do know that the media is wrong. How is this news? Why is this family's issues being displayed to the world? Will the media stop at nothing for a buck? Who really gives a wet fart on a crowded subway about this? Did someone in the family call up some news station about this or are they now patrolling neighborhoods for gossip? "This is a breaking news alert. Mrs. Cankles sues neighbor for picking her flowers." Is this some attempt to mix reality tv with news? Maybe the networks think more people will tune in if the news is about them? What do you think?

Well, hearing the news about that was quite devastating for me because come on at 30 you should be out of your parents' house, at least even before 30. Yes, media had frenzied about that news and it wasnt quite right, but come on, the bottom line here is that you should be responsible about your life and not bombard your parents with problems.

I don't care about the age, really. I like the idea of families sticking together. It helps everyone out financially. If the story is true though that he didn't help, then he's a lazy bum.

@mlgen1037 Definitely. I don't even know how someone could live with someone else without offering any help. My conscience would drive me crazy.

@redhotpogo We will never know for sure but whether it is true or not, at least be man enough and do what you need to do and not be an embarrassment.

@redhotpogo I can guess why they are posting about the 30 year old because it sounds like there is not new news for them to lie about.

It is not news, all the problems you describe are very common. I wonder if the parents called the news to embarrass the son.

Someone did. And the news chose to run it.

I feel the same when I hear small family matters discussed on national media. There is no sense bringing small things out of the proportion or let the two concerned members of the family solve it themselves. After all public is not going to interfere with the matter in anyways.

Yes. And the media coverage only made things worse. Now who's going to hire this guy? The tax payers are going to have to support him.

Oh I know it's definitely a relatable story, but it wasn't news worthy.

The evening news is what I call television tabloids. The biggest news stories here are usually about the weather or how some local celebrity stepped off the wagon. I agree that the media is lax on what it delivers as "news".

That's another thing. I understand that celebrities are public people, but we really don't need to know about their private lives. I wouldn't show up to the guy that serves my food's house and ask him what he's eating for dinner.

I think this along with many other stories should not be news at all, including the "royal wedding" that was just made a huge deal as well. Not trying to be mean but I only really care to watch people I love getting married.
