French Fries or Potato Chips

What's your preference? I like both but usually have potato chips more often. If I eat at a resturant and say, order a burger, if it comes with fries that is usually the only time I'll have them. If given the choice, I will take chips over fries. At home it is always chips. I like the variety of flavors you can buy. I know healthwise, chips are bad, but I eat them in moderation. What reasons do you have for prefering one or the other? Photo- google images/thedailymeal.com

Depends, french fries with my burger, potato chips in the movies or long travels by tourist busses and the like. Both for afternoon snack.

I find potato chips can be very convenient. As you mentioned on long trips their a great snack! Much easier to manage in a car than fries and a lot less messy, lol.

I like chips. They're nice and crunchy. And they're not as bad for you as you may think. They do have fibre, and vitamin c in them. As long as they're not loaded with salt and oil, they can be healthy (enough) to eat.

Another plus is they last for days and retain that crispiness while fries you have to eat right away

I eat both.. but like you I eat chips more frequently.. I eat them at home and have them with my sandwich at work. I don't eat fries very often at all.. I have had other potato forms more often recently, Potato puffs i can heat in the oven. I love baked potatoes and my favorite is probably Mashed potatoes!

@dgobucks226 I've never had sweet potatoes.. I avoid them. I am not sure that I would like them... I just don't like to try new things very often.

Yes, potato puffs are quite good. I like baked and mashed but have been eating sweet potato fries when I order out and sweet potatoes at home.

@minx267 I see. When I tried sweet potato fries for the first time I did not think I would like them but I was presently surprised. I can understand about experimenting with new things.

@dgobucks226 Too much salt on the potato chips. Most of the time I prepare oven roasted potatoes to serve with roasted chicken or red meats, they are a lot healthier and very good.

@dgobucks226 I used to buy potato chips a lot and find something I wanted to dip them into and it tasted really good but now a days I do not buy them. I would say I prefer french fries with things and with a potato in the house can make my own and enough them just as much as buying frozen ones or getting them at a restaurant.

Ah, interesting! I'm your opposite. I'd rather have fries normally. Do you have a Red Robin near you? I just found out you can substitute out bottomless fries for salad, coleslaw or kettle chips. The latter was actually quite tasty

Well I prefer potato chips- especially some of the new baked ones available in the market. Fries are heavier at times but are ok if I haven't eaten for hours.
