I need a boombox. Any recommendations?

I have over 150 CDs at home but I can't listen to them because I do not have a boombox. I do have a CD player but I can only listen to it if it is plugged into the outlet as the rechargeable battery doesn't seem to charge. That is not convenient because I can't just stand next to the wall to listen to music. I also have an audio system. It's old and seems to work, however, there is no outlet to plug it into. And it's not portable, which is not good. A few times I listened to some CDs on my laptop by connecting my external CD/DVD drive to my computer, but I don't want to do that all the time. I need a boombox. I went to a few stores to look at boomboxes but they don't have much variety. They have a few brands that I never heard of, so I am hesitant to get those. The only brand I recognize is Sony. There are only two options in this brand. I was going to get one of them but it is black. I want it in silver. I thought of just caving in and getting the black one but l saw someone posted a video on Amazon, showing that it wouldn't read their CD, so changed my mind. Anyone have recommendations?

It's been years since I had a boombox. I hope you find one you like.

@lovebuglena Have you checked Amazon? There's always a good selection along with reviews.

@just4him Yes. They have more than two varieties of Sony there but those other ones were not sold by Amazon but by sellers I've never heard of. I don't trust them, so don't want to buy... And they have other brands but I've never heard of them and don't want to take any chances with them.

That's what I think. I wonder why this person had an issue with it reading their CD.

Those Amazon reviews always give me second thoughts too - you may have a lot of people who are happy with the product but there are also many people who only post reviews if their product was defective in some way or they have a complaint of some sort. I have not purchased a boom box in many years (I have one from the late 90's that still works, knock on wood!), so I wouldn't know much regarding any of the current makes. I am not sure how you feel about E-Bay, but sometimes you can find nice electronic devices there. I have gotten good deals on both new and used devices and usually if the product is used (or new but already opened) the seller will have tested it to make sure everything is in working order, and will tell you in the description if anything on it doesn't work. Often they'll inform you of of things like any visible scratches on the plastic or other signs of wear if you're concerned with aesthetic appearance. I am not sure how much help this is. I will say that Sony is usually a good choice. Pretty much every Sony product I've ever had has lasted a very long time.

I have a boombox at my parents house. It's AIWA. It's silver. I used it when I lived there and loved it. Maybe I will ask them if they will give it to me. I am assuming it still works. Otherwise, I will have to get this black Sony one I found for $49. It's on sale now. Listed price is $59. I hate it when I look at reviews for a product I am thinking of buying. One bad review can change my mind. Though it shouldn't because it is just one review. Just because this person had an issue with it reading their CD doesn't mean it will happen to me...
