The weekend so far

Eugene, Oregon
May 28, 2018 6:12pm CST
Our local farmers' market was open yesterday and we made out usual trip down there for fresh veggies and fish. Local strawberries are in and the one in the photo looks like triplets really. They are sweet and delicious. We have a few in the garden as well. About eight hours were spent yesterday and today working on the underground sprinkler system that was here when we bought the house. As usual in the spring when we turn them back on, there are problems with leaks and direction. Anne likes to "fix" things. so I do the manual labor of digging and she tries to repair these things. I am now looking up professional help since we have at least three exposed and little hope of a fix. The grass pollen count is soaring on this beautiful, just right 75 degree day, so I have sneezed about 100 times, despite medication, which makes me want to stay in the house. I hope that all you myLotters, near and far are having a great weekend. I know that in some places, it is Monday already, so have a great day there too.

We installed an underground sprinkler system and we had so many problems, that I finally decided to forget it exists and now I water the garden myself.

Oh sorry about that weather. We will be begging for rain in a month or two when the fire season starts. I am surprised that you never ran across strawberries in your travels.

I can remember my mother saying, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions, son." That was a really odd thing to say, but she was an older Baptist woman.

Glad to hear that you had a good weekend. The strawberry looks delicious. There was no holiday here but it was a warm and sunny weekend. Hope the rest of your week will be great.

I bought some strawberries from our local farmer's market on Saturday, too. Some were tasty and some were this side of being from Safeway. We do have green ones growing, though so all is not lost.

I love the farmers markets but it seems they are getting more and more expensive, I understand it is fresh and all but there is no middle man and when they are charging more than the grocery store makes me wonder.

It costs a lot more to farm organically (if they are).
