In Asia we normally don't leave our parents and stay with them forever. But I have heard things are different in Europe and US kids when stand on their own feet start living separately. If you have the same culture then at what age you started living separately or still living with your parents. I am 42 years and still living with my parents. What about you? Image taken from pixabay

You know the funny thing, I went to hostel at the age of six. I lived away from my parent till 11th standard with only some of vacations spent with him. He visited me sometimes, but not often enough. The visits I remember is he brought a table fan when I had chicken pox, and he cried when he saw me the first time with chicken pox. Then for a while we were together. In first year degree, he went abroad. I stayed behind. Alone. Then I joined him, but had to stay with relatives as the place was not secure. We returned and have been together for almost 30 years.

i think what matters more is are they helping around the house, as well as financially. it's different if they live there for free and just do as they please and disrespect their elders.

If you are only son or your brothers yet to marry there is nothing wrong to stay with parents still. I think children should live separately once they get marry. This will help them to learn how to run a family life independently. It does not mean you must give up your parents, you should take care them as well. For girls, you know after marriage we have no other choice.

I live in the USA and basically moved out when I went to college, although I came home for vacations and summers. I left for good after graduation when I got married.
