Hand of Fate

I finally finished my book after reading about a week. It's a murder mystery by Lis Wiehl. It held my interest to the last sentence on the last page. I didn't guess who did it and that's the best thing about a mystery. I usually have a pretty good idea of who the culprit is before I get near the end. Not this time, it turned out to be someone's I hadn't considered. I didn't have a clue. What kind of books do you like to read?

When I have time I'll read anything. These days I'm reading health books as I try to stay healthy for as long as I can. Example: How Not To Die by Dr. Michael Greger

@RubyHawk I find that finding ways to stay healthy is also a mystery that needs to solved.

I read those too, but they get kind of depressing. That's why I enjoy mystery and more cheerful books.

@BelleStarr True. History can be entertaining, actually history can be stranger than fiction.

That's good. We should study history. My son has a knack for history. He can explain almost anything you want to know about history. I read more for entertainment than knowledge sad to admit it.

Anything but horror/chiller/thriller. Mostly drama, sci-fi, fantasy, some mystery - those are also what I write.

I read most any book but the long novels I used to love are no longer as interesting to me. Our taste seems to change with the times.

Mainly research and medical hold my attention. Books that let us have an idea who the culprit is before the end of the book seem to be more fun to read, don't they @RubyHawk

Sometimes it does and others that leave us guessing to the last page can keep us right on edge.

@LadyDuck I've enjoyed my grandsons books more after I get into the grist of them. As you say I don't care for a lot of gore.

So do I. I'm apt to read any kind of book. Horror is a little out of my line but that's what my grandson writes so I read those. I'm not sure he calls his books horror but there's lots of horrible things in them.

Sounds interesting. I like a variety of books from murder mysteries, to thrillers to romance and others. I have the advantage of being able to read in English and in Latvian.

I love reading murder mysteries, especially when the story is captivating and compelling, and leaves you guessing all the way to the end. They are especially great when the evidence throughout the book leads you to believe it's one person, but then it ends up being someone completely different!

I think she's an excellent writer. She knows everything about investigating crime scenes and the police department. She likely didn't need to Do much research for that.

The butler did it? I use to read mystery novels when I was young, often unaware of how time flies while engrossed with the book. The best kind are those with a twist at the ending.
