Do you have a ‘root’ friend?

If friendship is compared to a tree, some friends are just likes leaves, will come in our life, stay some time then leave the place. Some are like branches, they will be stronger but if there is a storm then they break off. But the friends, who are like roots, will stay with us forever. They may be invisible at times but when you are in need they will be there for holding you strongly.
How many 'root' friends you have in your life?

Well, I guess less than my ten fingers. I have seen those friends who were there for me thru thick and thin.

@Sreekala That is right. I am not in constant communication with them but when we see each other, it is like we never parted.

@mlgen1037 That is the beauty of friendship. You can start like you were in touch for every day.

Honestly, I must say only one or two of my long term friends are left. I've lost most of them to different types of cancer.
Like most people, most of the people in my life are limbs or leaves.

@Sreekala Oh, I am sure there are plenty of things to find disappointment in, Sreekala, you don't need root friends for that.

@Sreekala Yes,I have a couple of such friends. Both of them were my classmates in primary school. One of them dropped out after completing middle school and then his family left the town to settle at a small town in Chhattisgarh ( then in Madhyapradesh ).But ,despite geographical distance, we are still as close friends as we were in our primary school days. They have rendered all possible help to me every time I was in trouble. Similarly I stood by them every time they needed. They are my,what you call "root friends."

I am glad to know that you have 'root' friends in your life. Most of the people do not have such people in life. A bridge must be used for crossing from both sides. Am I right. Most of the people only wish to 'receive'. In case of giving they become 'narrow minded. I have seen so many. But I am glad due to my broadminded on giving, I am saved from many tough situations eventhough the people I helped deserted me.
