Rockies trip planned and cancelled

How is everyone doing today? Happy Pseudo-Monday! I am returning to work later today after a pitiful one day weekend where I spent the majority of it in AC due to it hovering around 100 degrees F most of the day. Happy Memorial Day to everyone (belatedly). A bit bummed as I had thrown together and spent quite some time planning a three day trip to Rocky Mountains National Park; I have the flight, rental, hotel, and campground all booked. Also had made itineraries for hiking and sight seeing. Found out yesterday that the friend I was going with (who lives in Denver) had a member of his extended family pass away and is unable to go. I feel bad for him and his family. Annoyingly enough I am also feeling bad for me as I am unsure I can get a refund or credit on the flight I paid $200 for. Since I am pretty afraid of scary wildlife (bears, mountain lions, etc) I will not take the journey alone. I am hoping the airlines will make an exception and give me a refund, but I doubt it. How is everyone else doing? Any trips planned in the near future?

Sorry to hear of your friend's loss. Hopefully you can rebook this for a later time or even next year, it sounds like a wonderful adventure.

I know. It is sad. That is why I am trying to keep myself from whining; I wasnt the one who lost the relative.

I hope you can get your 200 back and maybe spend it on something you would like to do yourself. I have nothing planned as of right now but hope to do something later on this summer. I am not doing to bad today just at work at the moment and going to get off mylot soon and get onto my work for the day. Hope you have a better day today.

Oh, I feel so sorry for your friend. I hope that you can get a refund given these terrible circumstances. In 2010 I booked a flight to Halifax in Canada and a travel firm folded. I booked a flight to Vancouver instead because I didn't want to miss out on going to Canada. That airline was doing some strike days and we are lucky we flew to and from Vancouver successfully. In 2005 I had booked to visit Cancun in Mexico however a hurricane hit that city and damaged the airport. I rang up a travel agent and asked for a cheap flight somewhere tropical. They said how about The Maldives so I booked to fly there and back. My next trip is partly formed and I am waiting for Norwegian Air to have flights available for April 2019.

Wow! That must have been hard to deal with. I have been pretty lucky with flights and trips, have not had to cancel or redirect any in my 9ish years of traveling. I am excited to hear about your trip to Inda!!

Wow, that's hot! The trip sounded night and it is probably a bit cooler there. I hope you can get a refund.

Maybe the airlines will just rebook it for you and not charge you a cancellation fee. Sorry you're going to miss your trip but I don't blame you for not wanting to go alone
