"I Don't Know What To Write About." --- Not My Problem !

If myLot had categories, the category 'I Don't Know What To Write About' would be full to the brim. I've always been puzzled by members who join a writing site and then complain that they have no ideas. I have a box into which I put newspaper cuttings of articles that have caught my eye. They come mostly from the page 'Miscellaneous'. It's a hotchpotch of funny, weird and/or bizarre topics. Occasionally, when I clean the drawers of my desk, I come across the box and amuse myself by re-reading them. There is always something in it which can be turned into a myLot post! A short overview of today's harvest: - The History of the Pencil Sharpener - The Oldest Known Artefacts of Humankind Found In Germany - Protestant Sausages (no joke!) - TV programmes For Apes In Zoos - The Mercedes and the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany - Germany - Your Beers - Alexander The Great And The Opening Of The World - Digital Classroom - Curse Or Blessing? - German Firm Cleans The Four Presidents Monument In The USA - How The Hare Has Become Easter Bunny -The Invention Of Google Doodles - Why The Outside Of The Gothic Cathedral Of Cologne Isn't Cleaned - Beekeeping In City Centres - Robber Knights Castles On The River Rhine In Germany - Chinese Tourist Signs Wrong Form And Becomes Asylum Seeker In Germany - Sun-Powered, Waterless Toilets For Third World Countries - Syrian Refugee Becomes German Wine Queen - The Rat Killers Of Galapagos - The Different Ways Of Child Raising in France And The USA - The Asexuality Of Sherlock Holmes and so on and so forth. Would you like to see some of these topics turned into discussions? --- Photo: pixabay

@maluse I am most intrigued by the prospect of Protestant sausages. Are they made from Protestant pigs?

Whoa you have quite the list! I like the ideas. I am trying to move away from discussions that feel more like a diary entry than anything else as well.

@MALUSE You have to admit without daily entries and I guilty of those, myLot would become a ghost town. If you check to see what gets high response levels, it's those types of posts. This is a chat site not a writing site for article writers even though some of us do them from time to time anyway. What you may find boring interests others and vice versa.

@JohnRoberts You're right, of course. My problem is that I was a member of real writing sites for many years.

@MALUSE Same here. I wish the ones I were on still existed. An easier system as least for me. But one has to make do.

@MALUSE i do. i post what i know. there is a saying among writing teachers. write about what you know ! to me that is the most interesting. not just something you found on the internet that anyone can look up. but of course i understand doing that also when you really feel you need to make more and at times i find some interesting that i had never thought to look up.

@bunnybon7 "when you really feel you need to make more" --- More what? What are you insinuating here? Money? This month I've earned $6.60. Doesn't look as if I'm here for the money.

I am curious about the cathedral of Cologne Seriouly 2/3 discussions started here are written only to earn a few cents, so why not "I do not know what to write about ?" I am starting ro find this site boring because of this.

Some sound interesting, especially the protestant sausage. Many like that one.

Interesting topics to read about, but I really like when people actually write stuff that people can talk about, share different views. And engage in conversation. Its easy to rephrase "facts". Its more interesting to talk about the effects, influence, or lack there of, etc

I prefer facts to conversations about what people have for breakfast or whose aunt-twice-removed has arthritis.

@MALUSE and I don't believe I said anything about posting those kinds of discussions? Just that who really cares if four monuments were cleaned? Like I said those topics are interesting. If I want facts, its easy to find on credited sites. Discussion about why its important for people to actually have a conversation would be cool.

I think I know about "Protestant Sausages" (the Affair of the Sausages), it has something to have with Ulrich Zwingli who was a pastor in Zurich. I will say nothing, I am sure people would love to read about this.

@LadyDuck By and by I'll write on some of the topics. I've just posted a discussion on Catholic / Protestant holidays in Germany. I don't know if the Swiss have the same complicated situation.

There are some great ideas in your list. I am kind of intrigued by Why The Outside Of The Gothic Cathedral Of Cologne Isn't Cleaned. I can't imagine why it isn't cleaned.

@Kandae11 I have a loose series about 'Pupils I Remember'. Maybe you could start something like this. Clients, colleagues, neighbours, relatives who are odd enough to be remembered in a post.
