When people brag about their salary...it gets tiring.

I'm not sure if you experience this thing often but recently many people I've talked to have started bragging about their amazing salary or wages. Now I find this to be extremely distasteful and it shows a lack of classiness. I met up with former colleagues who are so obsessed with money that all they can think about is money and making more money. I prefer not to discuss money and it drives me nuts that people feel superior to others because they earn a lot.

If this is the topic with a group of people, I stay away. For the reason, that money matters should not be an open book to all.

@tzwrites I can understand where it is coming from. Personally, I sometimes confront people who usually brought up such topic.

Yes, I can undrstand that! There re some people for whom success means earning money in their lives! This trend is becoming more in young generation and in the rat race to make money people are misssing the actual happiness of the life which comes for free.

You are perfectly right! The younger generation that is my age (between 25-30) is very obsessed with money.

When you impress them they will ask you to treat, do you treat or you don't treat? If you treat, your pocket will burn a hole. If you don't treat, they will say that you are a miser.

Bragging about earning a lot can also backfire and those kinds of people often wind up losing their jobs. They just speak out once too often. I have never bragged about how much I made when I worked outside of my home and I never would.

You're right, it can get you fired. Bragging in general is not nice.

I wouldn't like that either. However, haven't come across too many people who do that. That is usually considered personal information and is treated as such

It is in very poor taste to talk about money. I even see it on myLot sometimes.

Distasteful, yes, lack of classiness, very much so. Most of the people that I know well don't have anything close to a big salary to brag about. However, I do know many people who find other things to brag about. I see it as nothing more than insecurity. Irregardless, it's still distasteful and it lacks classiness.

I agree with you, it is annoying when people brag about their salary. I also hate when people brag about their cars, their big houses, fashion clothing, expensive restaurants where they go and blah and blah. Childish and rude behavior.

Exactly. Cars are another thing that annoys me...people showing off their cars or saying things like "do you want to see my new car?" and it's some very expensive car....

I do not like to hear people brag about making a lot of money either but another thing that I hate is hearing someone always saying " I would but I don`t have the money" when you know they would have money if they just spent what they make wisely. I dont mind advice on certain things, like how for me to make more, but people do not share that part.

Sure, that's a whole different story. There are many people who can't manage their money and try to play the victim.

You're right, they only look at success in terms of money and it's a bit sad...there's more to life than just lots of money.

How much your salary is should be confidential. When one talks about his salary he is blatantly bragging. And sometimes some people brags about it's because they are after all after all sad in other aspects of their lives.

There is always a proper time and place to talk about anything, doing it out of timing would be interpreted as lack of class or even vulgar so people need to be careful.

I think it's one of the oldest human weakness, they want more and never feel satisfied with what they get. Very few people seem to be thankful for what they earn And the reason is that they look at the higher earners but ignore the poor ones.

So true, people are very hard to satisfy. They feel like in order to be seen as "successful" they have to keep making more and more.

I think people actually lack self-confidence, or a good purpose, when they brag too much. It doesn't only happen with money, it can be higher education or, even worse, dating.
