I have tried to save money monthly and this builds up the money slowly. I am so keen to save quickly that I now save daily to get money for a new front door and decorating. Which ways can money be saved? How often do you save?

It is difficult for many. We don't have a home phone, cable television and some others things people might think are a must. We make our own laundry soap and cleaning products and most of our food is fresh, nothing from packages.

Wow. I am very impressed with your life money wise. Well done. You manage well without any of the things other people want.

I just let all my online earnings to Paypal. I never touched them because it can be used in the future. I do agree that it is really hard to save money lately. We just need to have extra cash online.

It is excellent you keep your on-line earnings on Pay Pal. I would like to earn more for that too,

@Shavkat , I put a few hundred on an Amazon gift card. I managed to get enough to buy a laptop. It is not easy even for me. Saving your money on PayPal is a great idea.

I earn little bits here and there and leave them in Pay Pal until I am ready to use them.

I have a second bank account that I deposit money in once a month.. and I try not to think about it so I don't get tempted to withdraw unless it's emergency...

Having that second bank account is excellent. I am pleased that you remember to deposit once a month into it.

I got rid of Sky television. I don't need it anymore. I got a lower energy deal and I can go to another deal anytime I like. I am pleased that the price hasn't gone up.

Hi Maxima. I do not go out as much as before as I do not want to spend money on things I do not need.

Hi Louise. I am so pleased that you don't spend money on things that you don't need. Going out less is a good idea. My people in my home country do on-line spending.

@maximax8 Thank you. I want to save for the future and we will never know what might happen so better to save something today. I do online shopping but only for those things necessary and it can be used everyday.

I just try to reduce the amount of things I buy and make things last longer. Keeping lights off when not in use to reduce the electric bill, keeping the thermostat lower in the winter so I don't have to buy oil to heat the house as often. Eating low cost meals and using everything up so nothing gets wasted.

I notice that food at train stations and airports can be very expensive. I would like to look into buying lower cost food. My son likes to have a light on all night in his room.

Maybe try a week of day 1 one dollar, day 2 two dollars until you have an amount of money you like.

I think writing a shopping list is helpful. I couldn't help myself though when I saw some seaside ornaments.

I am a natural saver. But when you really want something, you find a way to save for it.

I can't seem to save much money. I try to convince myself I can do it but give in to impulse spending. I need to try harder. Cause, one day I might need emergency money if something comes up later on.

I overpaid my mortgage and this worked well to pay off my mortgage. I find it harder to save now. I do have an emergency back account though it must have two direct debits.

Nowadays, it's very hard to save. Life is expensive and we are living in a time of consumerism. And even more if there are children involved. I make a plan every month abot in and outcomes and try to seperate a bit to another account. And comparing prices each time I go shopping.

Well done for comparing prices when you go out. Yes, children have a habit of saying they want something. My daughter knows when we travel abroad I will look around for a costume doll. Then she sees lots that she wishes to buy.

@maximax8 That's normal. Until certain age, children aren't concious about the value of money and how hard it is to save.
