My friend was surprised and grateful....

I did a post yesterday about how my dad and I did grocery shopping for my friend to help her out as she is struggling with money and personal issues. So thought I would tell you how it went. When dad and I got to my friend's house, I went inside to give her flowers and chocolate. Just before she came outside to greet my dad, I quickly explained to her that we had a surprise for her. So she followed me to the car and we showed her all the shopping bags full of food. She was really shocked and grateful. She said that no one has ever done anything like this for her so that made dad and I feel good. I told her that I thought about this for a very long time but worried she would take this as an insult but thankfully she didn't as she knows our hearts were in a good place. The food really helped stock her pantry, fridge and freezer. Her daughter was surprised and happy too. They have enough for breakfasts, lunches, dinners as well as food for her daughter to take to school for quite some time. My dad and I feel really good about helping her out as she is a great friend of ours. We made her cry a bit lol but it was happy tears. I know that she feels bad too as she didn't want to ever be in this position but I didn't want her to be alone in this. I feel good that we did this.

i didn't tell a friend i was sending her a box when i got her address. i wasn't sure how she'll react since they're mostly stuff we don't use anymore, but i was glad she and her family appreciated them.

@VivaLaDani13 in the next box there was a purple dress but she said it was a bit big (this was 3rd quarter of 2017) so she will make her daughter wear it for christmas. it was only last month that i remember to ask about it when we met and she said yes, it finally fit her by christmas and she loved it and always wore it.

@hereandthere That is really sweet of you. And purple . Purple is my favourite colour. I'm glad that it was able to be worn.

@mlgen1037 aw thank you very much. The reward really was watching them light up knowing they could be fed for quite some time without any issues.

@VivaLaDani13 That is the greatest reward one could receive - seeing the happiness in their faces.

Man! I can only imagine the satisfaction helping a friend out in that manner. I had helped friends but not like this. Didn't get the opportunity. Again it was very kind of you!

@VivaLaDani13 True! As long as there aren't any ulterior motives behind helping a friend. Sadly, there are more people who would help then use it to call in a favour later on. Stupid gits!

@Peach10 Thank you. We shall see lol I'm not religious but no reward is necessary really. As long as I can make people happy is reward enough for me.

There is nothing more better than feeding a person when the person least expected it.

They say that virtue is it's own reward, and that seems to be the case here. You feeling good is your reward

@jaboUK I really do feel great just by helping her out. I feel good by helping anyone out. As cliche and cheesy as this may sound, but making someone happy really is the best reward ever. I wish I knew how to help people on a larger scale. But I just don't know what to do.
