My Mom when she was living used to make the best home made bread. The only thing was she didn't make it without some assistance. She had a bread making machine. Do you own a bread machine for making homemade bread? Do you add any special ingredients into your bread preparations? photo-google images/williamssonoma.com

And just think John, with this item you can try a variety of different tasting breads. Much like the variety of items you taste test at the 99 cent store

I do mine from scratch and bake it in the oven. Never saw a bread making machine - except online.

Takes a lot of the preparation out of the baking. Does your kneading and baking and easy to use.

I bake bread quite often, but I don't own a bread machine. I enjoy doing it by hand but I had a spell awhile back where my arm hurt so badly I couldn't knead it so I used an old Kitchenaid with dough hooks and that helped.

@dgobucks226 Thanks! It wasn't as satisfying as hand kneading, but better than store bought bread.

It is very satisfying to bake your own items like breads and pies. Something about homemade that always tastes better. Glad you found a way to keep baking!

We must have burned through about 4 breadmakers to date. The latest has two spindles which I thought would be an improvement... but it's not. From the racket it makes, I think that it will need to be replaced before the end of the summer! But they do make bread making easy!

@dgobucks226 It's just that we use it so often. We hardly ever buy bread from a supermarket anymore. It's just the last one that was not made properly I'm starting to think. The previous makers, we simply wore out!

That's too bad about going through so many... I guess the tasty breads the machines make for you was worth your investments (at least so far).

@Hate2Iron I see. Hey, nothing wrong with getting the maximum use out of an appliance

I used to bake sometimes with a machine and sometimes without. The most I bake now is biscuits and cornbread, and those not often.

Well, those are 2 items I love eating! I always considered homemade breads another form of a tasty biscuit. The breads were so thick, fluffy, with a great texture to them. It was like having pastry

I have a bread machine and I must say this is a very useful electrical appliance. Lately I make different kinds of bread often. It is not difficult for me because the bread machine has finished most things for me. All I need is a good dough made by the bread machine.

We use to own a bread maker machine and made many tasty loaves of bread. The machine stopped working and we have not bought a new one. So, it has been awhile since we have made bread.

I am sure they did come with some sample recipes. Also you can find bread recipes on websites like allrecipes.com. You can use your own creativity if you so desire. Just add your ingredients and the machine does the hard parts. My Mom made a delicious raisin bread if my memory serves me correctly.

I am a good cook but a bad baker. I had one bread maker but I gave it to be used by my school as they teach baking there. This summer holiday my daughters went for baking classes and are showing interest in baking. So may be I will bring it on some weekend and let them try.

@dgobucks226 so true, the only problem is that it doesn't stay fresh as long as store bought bread but I suppose that means it's probably healthier.

A bread machine takes all the fun out of making bread. I like getting my hands into the dough and kneading it. My kids tell me I make the best homemade bread. It's been quite a while since I made any.

@dgobucks226 There's nothing like all that gooey dough sticking to your fingers as you knead it and pummel it, also working all your frustrations out, and then watching it rise, and pummeling it again one last time before you put it in the pans to rise before putting them in the oven. I always get three loaves of bread out of one batch. The first one out of the oven lasts about half an hour. I love warm from the oven bread. And there's no other scent in the world to equal fresh baked bread.

I do make homemade bread an I don't own a breadmaker. My sister-in-law doesn't understand why I don't just get a breadmaker. Have you ever beaten down the dough when you are frustrated? Try it.

Bread was meant to be made by hand - just my believe. Was taught by my grandmother to do it and my George, I've had to give in to basically every technological advance. Bread making most certainly will never be part of that. Recipe secret: DO IT WITH LOVE.

Thanks for your response. Yes, we do live in a technological society which likes to make things easier to do. Especially in the U.S. Well, at least both processes end up with bread which is healthier, has fresh ingredients, and no preservatives. We must all do our own thing which suits us best....
