I wonder how my parents survived without nanny's look after us when we were stil little. Both of my parents got secular jobs and now I am in the same scenario. I've got a kid and I badly need someone to look after her when both of me and my husband is at work. If only there is daycare service nearby.

That's good to know. You are very lucky to have your mom around.

@cacay1 It was different in the past, in the fifties in Italy only men worked, as soon as a woman had a baby she was left home. Married women with kids were not hired.

@LadyDuck, maybe your dad had so good income so need for your mom to work. it's also best if it's mom to take care of the children. But this time prices are so high so both husband and wife works.

@kixsh101 Can your parents help you out? Do you have friends that are at home and can do it?

My parents now are aging. Sometimes, I ask them to look after my second kid but it will only be hours. My friends are working too.

even relatives are not reliable in taking care of kids. but maybe if a lady who is a close relative will do the job, for me, it is fine. i hope you don't admit somebody with questionable credentials.

Children in old days were not as naughty as they are presently.

The way they lived int he past is different from the way we live now. Your parents had their parents who may have retired or one of them may not be working. They may have one of siblings who stayed home. Moreover, things were much safer back then.

My parents were both business people. Never employed. Each have their own businesses to take care of. They have 5 children. Me and my siblings each have nannies of our own. I remember even being closer to my nanny back than than my mom. I would even cry when my nanny would go on vacation. I only have one son and like my parents, I have become an entrepreneur. I was lucky enough to have a nanny from the day I got pregnant until now. She is still with us and still at the beck and call of my 14 year old boy. How old are your kids? I'm assuming you have more than one from your profile pic .

You are very lucky. I have the same experience as you. I also have a nanny that during her vacation days I will really cry because I miss her so much. I have to daughters.

It's very difficult to find trustworthy nannies these days, I hope you can find someone who will help you to take good care of your kid.
