Whodunnit? Can you name that song and artist? Just think of girl's names which begin with an "S" it just might put you on "track" to name that tune. You might remember this 60's tune, our featured video, "Susie Q," by Credence (CCR). Enjoy as you read over today's clues.... Here goes- What's my song???? 1. This 1957 song was #1 on both the U.S. and Country charts. Not bad for a pair of Rockabilly brothers who were as musical an influence as Elvis and Buddy Holly. The tune is about a young couple who fall asleep at the drive-in, realize they are out past curfew, and have some explaining to do to their parents. When they discovered the time it was a real wake up call for the couple. I used this artist on an earlier girl themed song. That one was about a lass named Cathy. Fun Fact- The artist's cousin, James Best, is an American actor, best known for his starring role as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in the CBS television series The Dukes of Hazzard. 2. This best-selling United States single of 1979 was about a girl who worked in a clothing store whom the guitarist/lead singer fancied. They eventually got together and dated, but the romance fizzled and they married other people remaining good friends. Weird Al Yankovic did a parody of this hit called "My Bologna." This L.A. group might be considered "One Hit Wonders" because of the huge success of this song. but they also had another tune which made it to #11 on the Hot 100 charts. 3. This song did not feature the Belmonts, instead The Del Satins ("In the Still of the Nite,") backed up this artist. The gal in this song really got around. The song's lyrics state, to avoid a broken heart, stay clear of this lady cause she goes out with other guys. Fun fact- the artist actually married a woman with the same name as the girl in the tune. This 1961 song charted at #1 in the U.S. Liner Notes: -"Sheila" by Tommy Roe gets a shout out as a terrific "S" girl song. Man that little girl was fine! -Credence Clearwater Revivals "Susie Q" was a cover of a song originally recorded by rockabilly singer Dale Hawkins in 1956. Fun Fact- The tune was released when CCR's band was known as the Golliwogs. The song charted at #11 on its release in 1968. Do you know the names of the songs and artists? Good luck and use those clues! If your stuck and need additional help just let me know in your response. Glad to throw a few more hints your way and aid "your search of that lost chord" or in this case tune. Enjoy the continuing series, comment, check out the trivia answers and see if their your favorites too. And as always, thanks for reading my music post!!! And #2 is a realtor now. How'd you like to buy a house from her? #3? What a great song. Hey, hey, bomp-a-day-dilly-dilly! Here's a little more trivia about #1..... Warren Zevon (yes, that Warren Zevon) worked as an arranger and piano player for Phil & Don in the early 70s. In his music he made a couple of passing references to them, including "Frank and Jesse James" (which was dedicated to them) and.... "Excitable Boy." "He took little Susie to the junior prom Excitable boy, they all said." Yes, that's a nod to your #1 song there. Look at the arranger on the label:
beautifully sung arrangement. predates the hollies.

Sharona- yes please! Phil and Don, voices like angels The Hollies studied their harmony style well... Warren, one of my favorite Z- named artists. When the Everly Brothers went solo they both had Warren play with them on tour. What a compliment to a creative songwriter/artist
