Oops! The Gala

I'm so overwhelmed that I didn't check my calendar, yesterday. Instead, I went out for lunch and retail therapy with my friends all afternoon. After arriving home, my son mentioned that we should leave our house at 7:20. When I asked him why, he reminded me of a gala event we were all attending at his wife's theater. My jaw dropped! How could I have forgotten??? After rushing like a madwoman, I had time to spare while my husband showered and dressed, but had no time for dinner. Luckily, I had had a large salad for lunch. We met our daughter-in-law at the stage door, and had time for champagne with her parents before being seated in the theater. It was a fundraiser and am proud to say that lots of money was raised. But the very best part of the event was a show by Leslie Odom Jr!!!!! He was in Hamilton, the Broadway play. He also starred in Rent, has been in over 10 movies and TV shows, and has a book out. He and his band were so worth the price of this gala. It was sold out in 5 minutes flat. We are so lucky to have a daughter-in-law involved with the theater, and I'm real happy we attended.

I was stupefied! I'm usually good at remembering important dates like that, but at least we attended and had a wonderful time. He was superb, and the theater raised a grand amount of money.

@DianneN I am glad the theater raised a grand amount of money. My family and friends are surprised when I forget something, they use to say they do not need a computer because they have Anna.

@LadyDuck Thank you! The theater is nonprofit and can always use money. Ted Kennedy, Jr. gave $10,000 US. Very nice! Usually I am like you. I just have so many things and appointments going on this week, that I erred BIG TIME!

That is so not like you to forget a gala event but it sounds like you had the best outcome, a great day of retail therapy and a great night of entertainment. I am so glad you were able to make it.

@DianneN Sometimes we just get overbooked, that is what usually happens to me when I just have too much going on, I forget things and it shocks me every time lol Time to slow it down a hair.

@BelleStarr Thanks for that. I told my husband tonight that I was afraid I was losing it. I have plans tomorrow, but will try to slow down after that. It's an awful feeling. The doctor's office charges (lots) for missed appointments, but they forgave me this time. He did have to switch a client around and block out a lot of time for me. I was mortified! Deep breaths!!!

It is a nice perk! We've seen so many famous actors in plays and in the audience. We used to belong to that theater for about 15 years. We'd join again, but are in Florida during the main season. At least we support the theater through donations. It's very famous in our area.

I have never heard of Leslie Odom Jr but you sure do make it seem exciting that you go to see him! What was the show about that he did was it a comic skit or play or a song? I'm a little confused on that part. My jaw would have dropped too having to get ready for such a exciting event and forgetting about it until the last minute. Glad you were able to get ready in a hurry and enjoyed yourself at the gala!

It was a big deal seeing him., especially for me. He's basically a singer and sang and talked to the audience between songs. He was so good!!! Yes, stress has been getting to me. The kids buying their house, my granddaughter's broken ankle, work in the house, Doodles with his heart problem, 6 meds twice a day, knee problem, arthritis, chipmunk killing, etc….and now spraying everyday somewhere in the house or just peeing. Also, my hairdresser left his shop. Things just keep piling up, but I'm trying to get a grip.

@shaggin When we first married, we had a cat that got blocked, but he didn't spray. Doodles is stressed by something. It started before we got home from Florida.

@DianneN I'm glad you had a wonderful time. I don't think you're losing it. You just have so much on your plate at all times. Sometimes you need to start with the main course instead of leaving it to the dessert.
