I finally got a pair of "S Staves" or, "Buugeng". What is Buugeng you ask? Well, I think the video in the link demonstrates it better than I can explain. "Buu" meaning "martial arts" and Geng meaning "illusion" - this is a flow toy or flow prop that is similar to almost like a jugglers tools - they make beautiful and hypnotizing patterns when spun. Of course, me, being me, want to use them as a dance prop. There are many nice tutorials available online - however I lack the technique to make it look good. Yet. I can see in my mind's eye what I will do when I'm better technique with these props. Wish me well! Some information verified at : www . zaobub . com Awesome video demonstration of S-Staves:
This is just a little playing with some basic Buugeng/S-staff spinning. I'm trying to get back into the habit of doing videos again. Happy New Year!

@FayeHazel - true. im sure youd also get a lot of free candy if you spun them while walking towards people.

I agree! Actually I had the thought - one could paint a pair of staves silver and then black on the edge (to make them look sharp or pointed) and I'd be all ready for Halloween

Thats pretty cool, I have never seen those before. I would think that would make a cool dance, I love the way they spin in her hands, you could do that if you tried. Good luck

Thanks! It's coming along, - for the first few practices I had my doubts. It keeps throwing me off how much you need to move your body out of the way to create the illusion

Hi Faye. That is the first time I have seen that. It looks great and artistic. I think it would be great if you add it to your dance moves.

That is a really neat video ..but I think the effect would have been better with a backdrop other than a garage door. What is she using anyway? What is a Bueeng?

I agree, a cool back drop, or maybe outdoors would have been nicer settings. :-) Oh the buugeng? Those were the 2 S shaped things she was using in the video

The movement is like the Chinese martial arts exercise tai-chi.

Tai-chi is amazing to watch. I admit - I have instructional dvd for Tai Chi - though I didn't get too far in learning it.

Hypnotic, indeed! I've never heard of Buugeng before. Wish you the motivation to master that skill, I bet the videos are going to help with that.
