Wednesday and Good Afternoon

Happy Wednesday! I can't believe it's already afternoon and I'm finally getting here to say hello. What a busy morning. I got up and did the usual things and then went out to run a few errands. It's such a beautiful day that I got a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts and went and sat in the park for awhile. I was a bit surprised at how much activity there was at the park but I guess everyone was taking advantage of the beautiful weather. Now I'm home and ready for lunch. Guess this day will disappear in the blink of an eye. Today is the last day of school for my granddaughter (high school), The other grandkids are already finished and excited for summer. My granddaughter got a summer job which she's excited about. Well she's more excited about the money than the actual working part. She's also taking her road test for her drivers license and half of me is hoping she passes and the other half not. Maybe that sounds mean but I've seen her drive and I don't think she's ready to be on the road alone. Guess it's all up to the instructor whether she passes or fails. I just think 16 yrs old is too young to drive. Anyway, I still have things I want to get done today so I'm off to see what's happening here before getting involved in other stuff.

School gets out much earlier where you are than here. I'm sure your granddaughter will do well behind the wheel once she becomes used to it. It's good to hear she has a summer job. Kids don't mind working for money.

@DianneN glad that she's doing better and I'm hoping that she'll be as good as new after her therapy. Ive been meaning to ask for awhile but keep forgetting (duh)

Our kids would have been finished sooner but we had extra snow days It's good that my granddaughter has a job for the summer as it will keep her out of mischief How's the Ice Princess doing with her broken foot/ankle?

@Marilynda1225 The schools here have lots of snow days, too. All I can say is that I'm so glad I'm retired!!!! The Ice Princess needs a bit of therapy before she will be allowed to get back on the ice. At least the cast if off, thank goodness. Thanks so much for asking.

Congratulations to her getting a job. I know what you mean about the driver's license. I'm a mom too and been there.

I drove a car at 14 but I was responsible, plus the others were drunk and I wasn`t. I did get pulled over as I turned into the one persons driveway. The police had probably seen me walking before and knew I was not old enough to drive, did not give me a ticket but told me not to do that anymore and to get new friends.

My grandfather taught me to drive at 14 but we lived in a very countrified area and didn't go on any main roads. By the time I took my driving test I passed like a pro

I love taking a cup of coffee to the park, but usually it's too chilly to get out of my car! lol My daughter at 16, was an awful driver who thought she understood everything, about driving! It's scary:(

Kids on the road is scary. They don't take criticism very well and yes, many of them think they know everything

I would worry too - but she has to start sometime. Yes, summer is just around the corner.

It's hard to believe summer is approaching since the weather hasn't been very cooperative

Well for me its just another busy day in the office. Still have a few things to do here and get things done. We have been super busy lately and my boss is super busy trying to do his estimates and get the proposals out as well. Sometimes he calls and i type up what he is saying for proposals so we can get them out and done. It is nice out today as well here and hopefully it stays like that because it rained yesterday and then last night we were in a bad weather warning and stayed inside and when not raining i tried to get the dogs to go out but they were scared of the thunder. I dont have to much to do tonight when i get home which is nice since dinner is pretty much ready to go as i did it last night. We were going to cook on the grill but it was bad weather so that didnt happen so hopefully tonight we can.

I drove when I was only 9 years old! That was way too young but back then I thought I was really good at it. Now I don't even want my son to be driving on the road and he's 14.

We can't get a driver's license until we are 18 years old here.

@kepweng Driving at 15 must be driving without a license. This will be punishable by 15 days' detention and a fine.

I agree with you, and i think minimum age should be 18. Unfortunately, it doesn't really matter what we think. So goodluck to her on the test.

I thought you only got a learner's permit at 16 meaning you can only drive with an adult.

One of my sons is driving and I'm hoping soon Cameron will be driving. Hopefully there will be a travel to Orlando where hopefully he'll attend college. There should be progress huh?

Coffee in the park sounds so relaxing, and the weather was just perfect for that today, wasn't it? Congratulations to your granddaughter on the job. I remember my first summer job, I was so focussed on how much I'd make and of course I managed to spend it so very quickly. And hopefully she will pick up some good driving habits. We enrolled our son in a driver's ed program. And then when that was over, before he went for testing, we knew a cop who went out with him a couple of times to review the "defensive" driving techniques. Apparently Dad and I aren't defensive enough, although we are both accident free for decades. And he's a really good driver, although I give myself a lot of the credit for that as I used to let him drive home on the back country roads every other Saturday from the landfill station. He was only 8 years old when I began teaching him, it was a little bit of bribery to get him to come with me to the dump on the Saturdays that Dad worked.
