Why Do Christians Have to ''Believe'' Anything?

People tell me I'm "human." You don't accuse me of *believing* I'm human, but I would be 'human' whether I believe it or not. People tell me I'm "Christian." I would be fine with that, except they then assume I believe everything a Christian believes. And maybe there are Christian churches with lists of 'things you have to believe to be a member of that church.' But ... no. The way I see it, 'being Christian' is 'being "of the Anointed One & His Anointing".' 'Whether you know it or not' has nothing to do with it; Christians are 'Christians' the same way sheep are 'sheep' ... not because they know it, but because they are among the sheep & resemble sheep & do sheep-like things. (The 'belief-stuff' comes in when you feel like you have to "justify" your Anointed-ness---'presenting a receipt to prove you own the Anointed-ness' rather than just 'grabbing the Anointed-ness & carrying it around like you own it') I am a new creation! But I don't 'believe' the story anymore. I believe believers (both Christians and atheists). I believe they can both see things for what they are. Just like 'not believing I'm human' doesn't make me any less human, 'not believing the Christian story' shouldn't make me any less Christian.

I am not a Christian nor do I belong to any religious organization, but I am a follower of the "Anointed One".

@Starmaiden I started reading the first one, but only got part-way through the first paragraph before I ... I basically skipped it, skimming through the rest. I might read it more-carefully later, but I basically got the idea that Sananda is 'their' (Adele Arini's, her teachers' etc.) name for what Jesus might've called 'The Holy Spirit.' THAT is what was "God" in Jesus. And it's how 'God' speaks to us today. Like Jesus said it would do for His disciples.

@mythociate I have never met Adele in person, but I have met Sananda/Jesus. Not in Flesh, but through my dedication to 'Our' Father and my surrender to His Divine guidance. It was by no accident that I stumbled across this wonderful website/blog. I had just began my own journey with energy healing and I was guided to this website and began reading the messages for a number of years now. Through my Reiki practice I've learned to channel my own higher self and the energies of the Ascended Masters. Sananda/Jesus is one of them. He takes me places, shows me things (in my meditative state) and encourages me to continue with this practice on a daily basis. I don't call it religion because it isn't. It is me following my own path to enlightenment with no dictates from fear mongering control freaks. There is a second part to His message that is even more intriguing. I will post it here.

There are a lot of atheists on the Internet--atheists that make a lot of sense (if you learn to tune out the ones who 'resort to insults' about how we must be sheep-brained if we acknowledge the thousands-of-years of writing that led millions of Christians throughout history ). This is where I bring 'the old metal' (Scripture, tradition, history) to 'the forge to purify it with fire & my instrument' (heating it up with reason & new discoveries & my brain to discover The Truth I need & -to help others discover The Truth they need).

Sanskrit "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo"
@NoorNoor I believe ... I'm not sure how to put it. I'm sorta 'Buddhist'---not to say "I think an ancient prince who took the name Buddha is God," but rather 'we mortals can't fully perceive God, but can only do "what we feel God wants us to do" (whether that's "instinct" or "instructions from holy writing" or "traditions" or whatever)' Nichiren Buddhism's main 'mantra' (sort of 'a prayer you say to yourself') is basically a review of the process of 'listening for God's voice.' The picture is the Sanskrit text that could be interpreted 'I listen for advice on my plans, I hear what I should do and I try to do it, I hear what others are probably going to do & what happens because of that, I take all these events into consideration as I plan what to do next; and again and again and again indefinitely.' https://youtu.be/WV2Qmpb_8XI

I also find that people that know one is a Christian also believe that these people are also as strong in their beliefs as the strong Christians believe and live. (I was trying to find a word other than "rabid" that is used for the stronger Christians...not too much luck). Rather than spending all my time reading the Bible and going to church or Bible study, I live my religion and help others and help in any way I can. It's like if you are human and know you are human does that make you a super human? If you are human and don't know you're human does that make you less human?? There are a lot of peoples in the world that haven't had contact with the outside world so they don't have the tag of being "human"...will they always be less human? I resent the fact that now if it is found out that you are a Christian it is expected that you become "Super Christian" and not only believe everything that they believe but live your life in accordance. I love my simple life where I am able to help others the way I do and not spend my time witnessing to the people in the name of Christianity. I don't spout quotations from the Bible, I don't spend my time telling people they are sinners because they don't go to church every Sunday and spend time every week in Bible Study. Because I don't follow everything that is expected I shouldn't be considered less of a Christian (or whatever belief I hold dear), it just means that I am busily living my life and conducting it in a way that I am kind and loving to others. Sorry, I got long winded again. I get a bit annoyed at the people who claim to be Christian (or human) who spend their time in study of their belief and expect that if you don't follow suit you are less of who or what you are if you don't do the same.

I know! I participate in a bunch of 'atheism'-groups on Facebook (they're not all "anti-Christianity' groups ... more like 'pro-reason & pro-reality'); and sometimes I'll 'answer a question' with a Bible-quote (as I've heard that atheists are better Bible-scholars than most believers), but then they'll jump on me like I'm trying to invite them to "alter-call" (that time in most church-services when new believers are invited to the front to "accept Jesus into their lives")
