How many of you when you went to a movie theater snuck in your own snacks?

I know movie theaters were pricey when I went and then on top of that buying snacks which adds more to the bill. I like others used to sneak my own snacks in because I bought what I wanted to eat. So, how many of you because of the prices being so high snuck in your own snacks to the movie theater? Thank you Valerie for bringing that up.

I go to watch the movie, not to eat. When my kids were young I would send them with treats in a bag. It was allowed at that time.

@ElusiveButterfly That is interesting at one time theaters let people bring in their own food. I thought the purpose was that they make money for the theater by people buying snacks from them.

@Hannihar our local drive-in and multi-plex theaters do not allow snacks to be brought in.

I don't usually bother with snacks in the theatre although sometimes I'll have an ice-cream bomb before or after. These are just chocolate-coated ice-creams but they they still cost money.

@Hannihar - around here, they dont check. the theatre always seems understaffed. the same person that sells you the ticket also rips the piece off and tells you where the room is at and thats it, you just walk in .

In my country they never actually check our bags and lots of people bring their own snacks. I have also done it in the past. Now I usually buy a small popcorn and share it with my husband.

@Hannihar I visit the movie theater once or twice a year. Right now I have a gift card and I will probably use it later this year. Most of the time I watch movies at home.

When I was in teens, my siblings and I usually bring our own snacks in a cinema. Now, it is not allowed.

@Hannihar It is the basic protocol that they do check the moviegoers before entering the cinema. Thus, there is no chance of bringing snacks.

We sometimes got the big thing of popcorn and shared it. It is a lot cheaper to get fast food before or after the show. When they catch you sneaking food in or eating illegal food, they can kick you out. Once my son paid for a large popcorn to share and two soft drinks. It cost more than the movie tickets.

@akalinus it is very expensive to buy at the theater. I guess they do not care about expenses but feel they have to make a living.

Growing up, the prices weren't too bad so we bought snacks there. But we have snuck in snacks for the nieces and nephews when we've taken them over the last 3 years. As kids these days cant sit still to watch tv unless snacking.
