While I am happy with our decision to shift to a semi rural town we do miss some exotic fruits that we used to enjoy while in the city. Of them the Lychee fruit tops the list. The Lychee fruit is exquisite in all respects. It is sweet as honey, soft and most important of all it has a delicious flavour. I did try to shop for it online but most sites do not deal in perishable fruits that need to be delivered at a place that cannot be reached in a day.

I like lychees, they are only available during the Christmas holidays here. Usually from mid-December until the end of January.

While we were in the city we had access to several different types of fruits. Even the cherries that we got there had long stems and were sweet and those plums - I have not tasted them after we shifted here.

@allknowing The trees are full of cherries right now. We do not have a cherry tree, I could ask our neighbor.

(smiling at you) When Pretty or I see some fruit that is new to us in our local market, we usually purchase a small amount to take home and try. Usually, that is best since we never know if we will like the new to us fruit. (Well, we know I will like the new to us fruit and Pretty might or might not like it.) Some months ago we saw a smallish plastic container with some really unusual looking blobs in it. I purchased a box of them and took them home. (So far, I haven't come across any fruits that look like the ones you show.) What I had purchased were Lychee fruit, but they had prickly, curly bits all over the outside of them. I peeled two of them and offered one to Pretty. I chomped and chomped on mine until I was left with the little furry nut? from the center of the fruit. Pretty nibbled delicately at her fruit and then handed it back to me. (I should have known, another exotic fruit she doesn't like. ) I hope you are doing well, Dearheart.

When we lived in the city and went to a Chinese restaurant most weeks, I would always order lychees and ice-cream for dessert. I loved the flavour of them.
