If It's Friday I Must Be Confused

As the summer heats up my job cools down. Starting next week, I'm going to a four-day work week. I have this all planned out, too: I'm taking my weekly day off on Friday one week, then on Monday the following week, giving me, in essence, a four-day weekend every other week. All summer long. I was looking at the KOA website to find some camping spots for a trip. That's when I got confused. Things like this confuse me all the time. A nice, air-conditioned hotel room at the Hampton Inn is $96 a night. A KOA "Kamping Kabin" with no in-room bathroom facilities and bring-your-own bed linens is $84 a night. What's wrong with that picture? Shouldn't more amenities (such as, not having to trudge to the restroom facilities in the middle of the night) mean more cost? If you think that's bad, you bring your own house (an RV) and the cost is just as much! (I'm sure they aren't telling you this at Camping World when they're trying to sell you that class A that's "only $595 a month"!) I suppose the "it's trendy and hip to glamp instead of camp" mentality drives the cost up. But sheesh. Make it a little less obvious in the cost, please! Here's a video about glamping (narrated by someone who sounds like she should be singing with Frank Zappa):
On my newest adventure in Tulum, Mexico I show you what it's like to go glamping (fancy camping) at the Nomade Tulum and also show you one of my new favorite...

Who you going camping with? I like this because you do not share much of your personal life. Friends family, no need to share to much if not comfortable, but hope you have fun. You pretty cool in my book.

I’ve been car camping a few times. When I went to Nashville to see Peter Case and Robyn Hitchcock last month I stayed at the Cabala Hotel (slept in the parking lot).

@FourWalls Damn, you went all Extravagant. That's how you do it if just going to sleep in the parking lot. Be careful because they will still ask you to leave. Rich people Glad you had fun though.

@crossbones27 — I have a couple of apps that have the stores that do and don’t allow overnight parking. I have an SUV (a crossover), so I don’t take up much space. Additionally, there were quite a few RVs already there when I pulled in.

You're kidding. I haven't stayed at a KOA since childhood (my parents had a camper).

Afraid not. You should see the prices of the KOA in Nashville. Sheesh, the Super 8 is cheaper (not that I’d stay at the Nashville Super 8....)!

We have 'glamping' in Australia too. To each his own I guess.

Just one more reason for me not to camp lol! I don't like it anyway, but that price is ridiculous!
