Mystery Flower Seeds

Back on a rainy day in February during my mother's visit we made a trip to the dollar store and encountered this cute metal planter and some boxes of assorted flower seeds. Since I wanted some flowers for the back of my apartment, it was too good a deal to pass up though I was a little skeptical as I had bought a similar box of seeds years ago and never managed to get a single plant to grow from them let alone flower. Giving it another shot, I was surprised a little while later to see little green sprouts working their way up from the soil. Maybe I just had a bad box when it came to my first experience? Maybe the conditions weren't good enough? I certainly love my flowers but I don't consider myself a great or experienced gardener. I was excited to see that something was growing this time and could only guess what kind of flowers I would be getting from the box. Months passed. The plants inside the planter became taller and stronger but still had no flowers. I was starting to wonder if they would ever produce any when I peeked out the window yesterday morning to find a splash of blue among the green. Hopefully it is the first flower of many more to come. I wonder what I will be seeing from the other plants in there.

I was about to ask if you knew what had grown but @owlwings has supplied some answers. I hope they continue to do well.

@things4gotten Oh that's a shame - both about the migraine and the plants dying. Hopefully some will get over the setback.

The blue flower with the feathery leaves is Nigella or Love-in-the-mist. I'm not sure about the others but the one with long thin leaves may be Cornflower (blue or white or pink) and the rosette with wider leaves looks as though it may be either a daisy or a marigold. Time will tell! Keep watering!

I don't know what the other plants in there are yet. One seems to have a bud so hopefully a second flower will make an appearance soon!

Yes it is a very satisfying experience for me to see seeds come into bloom. I also am happy to see the occasional bumble bee or monarch butterfly. Spring has turned into Summer. Hope you have many years ahead of flowers and other garden delights. :)
