Swiss roll

Today it is my first time to try to make this kind of cake. Here we call it as Swiss roll and perhaps it has nothing to do with Switzerland. I don't know what it has such kind of name. Perhaps "Swiss" sounds like "Sweet" and it is supposed to be Sweet roll? I am glad that I made it successfully even if it seems the cutting is not so perfect

In fact it has nothing to do with Switzerland, it was invented in Austria, it's a sponge cake with a filling. Your Swiss rolls looks good, I often make one adding chopped hazelnuts to the sponge cake paste and I fill with whipped cream.

Congrats, it looks perfect for me. It is supposed to have been invented in Central Europe during the 19th C, probably in Austria, although these rolls look like a simplified recipe of the Christmas log which is a French invention, also from the 19th C.

@JudyEv I used the oil paper to wrap it aand then put it into the fridge for a while. After the shape is done, I will take it out and unroll and add the cream. I still need more practice

@youless My Mum used to roll it up in a wet tea-towel for a while then unroll it and add the filling.
