Our friend needs your prayers

There's a couple who come to visit and we visit at their house every couple of months. They came by yesterday and the man told us he has cancer. I'm still in shock. He said it's prostate cancer and I thought, ok, that's often a relatively easy cancer to cure. But he has an aggressive kind and it's already in his lymph nodes and bones. He's 75 which to me is still not that old. He and his first wife were friends of ours back in the 70's when we'd all hang out together, either at someone's house or fishing on a house boat, or taking all our kids to the beach. My heart is breaking for him. But the saddest and most important part is that he's not a Christian. I know many myLotters believe differently, but I believe that faith and salvation from Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. I don't want him to suffer from this horrible disease. But I want to know I'll see him again one day in heaven. For those of you who feel the way we do, please pray for him to be healed and his soul saved. I know God still heals. But if He chooses not to heal our friend on this earth, I want to know he'll be healed after death. Thank you for everyone who will pray for this friend. God knows his name. Praise God for His mercy.

Jesus always asked a person before laying His hands upon them if they "Believed". It was His way of getting the person's consent to be healed by Him. If a person doesn't give their consent to receive prayers and thoughts of healing, or if they do not believe, it won't work. It is his own faith that will heal him. If your friend is not a believer, you are wasting your time calling on God to heal him. God honors all free will, including that of non believers. I will keep him in my thoughts, but unless he himself asks God for healing...

I agree, but what about people that Jesus healed without their clear consent, like the demon possessed man? I know our friend has to ask for himself, but most of all I want him to get saved.

@1creekgirl According to the NLT account, the demon possessed man, upon seeing Jesus in the distance, ran up to meet him and bowed down to Him. Jesus understood the man's actions as a cry for help and cast the demons out and away from him.

I will pray. Sometimes in our darkest times that's when people find Jesus.

I do hope this is the case with him. His wife is a Christian, but he's just never wanted any part of it. I hope this will wake him up in time. I hate that maybe it's taken this horrible diagnosis to reach him. But his soul is more important than his health, although I know God can heal him.
