One food I never tried until I met my husband

My husband and I met in the mid 1980s at College. He was not living in a dorm. He was living in a basement apartment with a room mate. The apartment was right off campus but within walking distance of the college. He had a small kitchen and he was being frugal and trying to save money. One food he did buy, I had heard of but never tried until he prepared some for me. It was Plantains. He peeled the skin off , sliced them into thin slices, put them in a flour mixture and then fried them in a skillet. I liked fried plantains. Have you ever tried fried plantains?

I've eaten fresh plantains and cooked plantains and love them both ways.

Yes, they are a little more firm than bananas.

Never had plantains. Mom used to bake over ripe bananas,to serve alongside pork chops, and those were good. I am pretty sure they are sweeter than plantains. I can get them here and I should try them.

I have never baked over ripe bananas. The only thing I have done with them when they are real ripe is to make banana bread with them.

What's the difference between plantains and bananas? For me, they look the same.

I love plantain especially if it is ripe. Then wrap it with Lumpia or spring roll wrap and fried it. Yummy!

What's the difference between plantains and bananas? For me, they look the same. I used to fry whole bananas and sprinkle some curry powder on them. Yummy! Haven't done that for a long time. I think I'll do it again in the near future.

@LeaPea2417 No, I have never heard of it let alone tried it. I found out when I was married that I loved spicy food and so now I make my food more spicy.
